Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

It looks, average ingame. I have to admit i'm disappointed, everything leading up to now indicated it would be much better to look at.

You can argue gameplay as much as you like, but it's nothing new over other FPS.

yeah having the exact same problem as you. I haven't even got into a game yet. Worst beta ever, only thing that works are the menus.
 
Had to unplug steering wheel so I wasn't constantly looking at the floor.

Beta? Feels more like an Alpha to me.

Played in a lot of Beta's and they all felt much further along than this. The BF Heroes beta wa a lot more playable than this and that was new tech for DICE.

They really should have been able to get a PC MP game to run better than this.

Jesus, they have enough experience to fall back on BF 1942+ expansions, BF2+ Expansions, BF2142 and BF Heroes all PC MP games.

I did like the LCD applet for G15 keyboard.
 
The amount of people with near zero concept of what the purpose of a beta test is worries me.

Where, in the videos you saw, did you witness something entirely revolutionary and mind blowing, something so epic in it's awesomeness it was hard to even define it as an upcoming FPS title?

Explain yourself here, as the only way what you posted would make any sense is if you have the expectations of a moron.

We all know its a BETA, not the finished game, but the ****state that its in by the sounds of it doesnt really fill me with confidence.
Its ONLY 5-6weeks from release, the game needs to go gold, be distributed etc...
Quickly fixing bugs will result in more bugs.. joy.

Plus if people are already complaining about choppy performance, whats it going to be like with the full graphics?

Laggy servers, sounds like 2142..
 
I have played 4 or 5 games now and enjoyed every one of them, the map is quite good, loads of cover, squads will be awesome over ts/vent

once the lag has gone, fov is tweakable (lets be honest its gonna be in a cfg or something or some clever sod will work out a fix if Dice don't change it anyway)

the gfx were fine for me on medium as I aint arsed about uber as long as its smooth and I can hit what I aim at (it isnt perfect but certainly better than bf2 in that respect lol)

I wont be cancelling and am looking forward to the full game with all modes, maps and single player to boot... potential bargain for 26 quid imho
 
Same as most others here, log in open server browser quickly followed by CTD.............

I know its a beta but ffs i wouldn't mind seeing the game :)

Guess you haven't tried proper betas but betas that are released for hype effect few weeks or months before release. To me BC2 seems pretty well advanced beta with some obvious problems here and there but most of those seem to be related to 100k+ gamers trying to access the game and play at the same time, something they probably couldn't test within their office anyway. I do have problems with BC2 but I think it's very unfair to say it seems like an alpha.. usually alpha releases have barely gameplay if even that. If you now respond to this "but I can't even join a server", then you probably didn't read my message anyway. Betas have problems and bugs, a lot of bugs, hundreds of bugs. It might take few weeks to fix the problems to allow specifically you to join a server, but that's what the beta is for, fixing bugs and testing with wide range of computers.

The server browser is pretty terrible. It's missing features like organizing the server list by ping, players, name etc. The menus sure do need some work, as does the FOV though the FOV will probably stay even if 10k rabid fans try to tell DICE to change it. I really hope they tweak it. The game is pretty demanding too, and this close to release you can't expect miracles in terms of improving performance. Probably some tweaks here and there.
 
I was getting CTD on the server browser but found a couple of games appeared on my history tab. Server browser still crashes but I have managed to join games through the history tab. Had a couple of rounds of fairly lag free fun.

BF: BC2 released 5th March

I played World in conflict alpha was months before the game, and feels a finished product compared to this

Point is it should be going gold in 3-4 weeks, and if this is all they have .....................

You gotta realise its BETA, look at it this way, if it was full blown graphics and bug free and played really well, no problems at all, most would have a shed load of fun this next month and then get a little board and probly not buy the game.

Surely you all realise its to get the online up and running, with what i suppose is the basics thats needed.

If you got hold of the BETA in the thinking it was gonna be like the retail version, then maybe you should give it up and wait for the retail version to avoid dissapointing yourselfs.
 
People should realize the PS3 users moaned just as much, if not more than the current PC lot, and we got a 100+ line patch for it. Direct your quibbles to Dice.
