Right guys i have a 2 week old Corsair H50-1 and i am not happy with the quality of this corsair product.

One of the blades snapped off the fan for no apparent reason and when i told the company they just said i must have done it... typical.

Also the braiding on the pump and the fan isnt the best either.

So i am going to go for a good air cooler but want rhe best for my i7.

Which of the above is the best and what about coolers like the thermolab baram too ?

You help would be appreciated guys

Th enoctua dh14 looks to be very good according to reviews, but it is pretty big and may block your ram slots. Havent used a megahelims so cant comment on it. However i can highly reccomend the TRUE, great cooling, wont block ram slots. Ive been using it since my q6600, also tried the baram on the q6600 but wasnt really impressed with it. Stuck with the TRUE for my i7 setup.

Agree entirely with setter on all three counts. The fenrir is loud by most accounts.

Heatsink of choice for me would be a true, lapped. I'm very fond of mine.

Yeah i had a TRUE on my Q6600 also but hated the pain in the arse lapping proceedure which is a must on them. That sorta put me off that one...

I got some OCZ ram with normal heatspeaders so size really doesnt matter.

:D

Lapped one here as well, 2000 grit, using ocz reapers here, possibly the largest ram heatsink available. Still have room if i ever go to 12gb.

I have had the TRUE and DH14 on my i7 920, The DH14 performance was easily better because it made for i7 chips. Ram with tall heatspreaders will be a problem as someone already said but i think its worth it. I would go for megahalems or definatly DH14.

For me it would be the DH-14, then the Mega then the True, and totally forget the titan, it was good on the S775 quads, but not so good on I7.

Guess its all about how much u wanna spend really, as the mega and true with fans will be very close to the DH-14 in price.

What temps you getting ?
with 2000 rpm fans im getting theese.

With my 400-1200rpm pwm's theese.

The 2000's give a fair bit more noise for very little temp drop, therefore i may go back to the pwm setup, using 2 fans on the cooler in both tests.

What volts are you using ?

Another vote for the TRUE here as well, it's been around for ages, and it's still one of the best air coolers to.

Agree there davy, ive certainly got my moneys worth from it, three different cpu's ive used it on now.

Dont you think the TRUE is a little long in the tooth now ?

If you was to buy today would you honestly get that over the DH-14 and Megahalems ?

I wouldn't want neither of those 2 coolers tbh, the Noctua is far to big, and the Megahalems although it's great, it always reminds me of the Transformers!!!

The TRUE is great, and like I said it's still up there with the best air coolers.

so you would get the TRUE over the Thermalright Venomous X ?

Is that the new one that looks just like the TRUE?

::edit::

Yes it is the one I'm thinking about, apart from the slightly different shape of the fins they are practically the same cooler imo, it would all depend on which was the cheapest for me to make a decision here, if the TRUE was the cheapest option I'd go for that yes..

All these high end coolers are much and such the same when it comes to performance figures, with only a couple of C difference here and there.

::edited again::

Anyway, this thread was about the Noctua, Megahalems and TRUE not the Venomous X!!! :D

Yeah but i did ask for other coolers.... :D

I been looking at the Venomous and it has a much better base, better clamping mech and redesigned slightly...

Should make for a winner im thinking. :D

Sure, its been out a while, an oldie but still very good, the only alternative for me would be custom watercooling. When i had my q6600 i tried a few different coolers, thermolab baram, sunbeam core contact, noctua nhu, tuniq tower, none of them could cope with that cpu at 3.8ghz (1.51vcore) as well as the lapped TRUE, hence why ive kept it so long, also had it on a 3.8ghz q9550 with 2 low speed fans.
