This has become one of my favourite lunches.

Pack of tortilla wraps. I buy the light choices ones from tesco, you get 8 in a pack.

Tub of houmous. I buy reduced fat houmous, tastes just as nice.

Bag of sweet and crunchy salad, about 90p.

A cucumber.

Falafels. The organic falafels at tesco are about £1.69 for 8 which are really nice. I also fried my own today from an osem packet. Made up the mix, formed small balls and deep fried.

With organic falafels, microwave 2 balls for 35 to 40 seconds,
Put one wrap on a plate and microwave for 10 to 20 seconds.
Spread some houmous generously over wrap.
Put a nice handful of crispy salad in middle of wrap.
Put 3 slices of cucumber over salad.
Slice falafels up and put in middle of falafel over cucumber and salad.
Roll it all up, fold one end of wrap to stop it all falling out and enjoy.
I have 2 wraps per lunch.
:)

umm ok

edit: I suppose i better try to put some input into the thread for fear or being labeled sir spamalot.

Are these actually good for you? I have had them before (pre made) from a lunch truck that comes round near our work. They are tasty i must admit.

How long does the osem packet falafel take to make? I've got a large bag of chickpeas to use.

Well, it's the first time I've done it. Actually, the packet said best before september 09, lol. Tasted great though. Didn't take long. Added 200ml of water to powder in a bowl, stirred it and let it sit for 8 minutes. Half filled a saucepan with oil, and when hot, formed small balls with wet hands and carefully lowered balls into oil with a large spoon. So you can make in theory about 30 balls in about 15 minutes. I made mine too big and got about 15 balls.

Never been a massive fan of falafels. They look, smell and feel like a tasty meatball but when you bite into it it fails to deliver that sweet meaty taste. Instead you get a mouth full of dry lumpy paste :D

However, I don't wish to bad-mouth them so I acknowledge their place in society.

you're doing it wrong OP!

a proper falafel should be in a pitta, with fries, chillis, chilli paste/sauce, onion, pickled red cabbage and of course, the falafel.

*droool*

Damnit! now i want a big juicy falafel!

Popular with vegetarians and health freaks, but they are one of those foods of the moment, at the moment. I've regularly seen them on kebab shop menus.

Eh? They were originally an Egyptian food last time I checked.

while yes, they originated in Egypt, they're now massively popular everywhere in the Mediterranean :D

also, it's not like Egypt is exactly far from the med
