looks like the days of demonization and government sponsored 'research' are (hopefully) coming to an end, as much as the Federal Government in the states tries to enforce illegal laws upon the individual states it looks like the 10th amendment is going to finally have a victory.

This will be another boon for pro-marijuana campaigners, another example of how legalising the plant does not result in a collapse of society, increase in mental illness, rapes, mass murders, serial killers and paedophiles.

The Cali assembly committee voted on Tuesday to pass the bill, it now goes to the floor or the general assembly and probably a public ballot and all the media is saying it will pass - Cali seriously needs the tax dollars as they are in a massive deficit (a bit like the UK!).

I was watching a programme on CNN where shops are already being built as a 'one stop shop' for all your growing and smoking needs, basically a 'best buy' for people who enjoy Marijuana.

I hope it passes so i can go to San Diego and experience my God given freedoms.

again i hope this signals the end of government hypocrisy in regards to the scare mongering of Marijuana whilst conveniently ignoring the massive destruction that cigarettes and alcohol create... but we all know why this is, just check who lobbies the governments to keep Marijuana illegal - funnily enough its the cigarette and alcohol companies.

remember as with everything enjoy it with responsibility and in moderation!

So it'll be like Amsterdam then?

slightly different, you will be able to grow your own (you cant do this legally in Holland) and purchase from places that have licenses, not just coffee shops like in Amsterdam.

My understanding it will be pretty much treated like Alcohol, shops need a licence to sell and you pay tax per amount bought.

You just have to pay a tax on every 8th (3.5 grams) and buy a government license to grow.

looks like a reliable source :/

i've just posted some more links in my original post for those of you who ignore anything that isnt reported by the BBC.

i hope that you can bring yourself to believe in CNN, LA Times, The Miami Herald etc..

Too stoned to notice the date then?

the original article from last year was in regards to the bill, the general committee of cali voted on this month to pass it... im not stoned, i haven't consumed any Marijuana for ages. Not sure if you understand how state governments work, but when you introduce a bill it doesnt automatically become law or be thrown out on the same day, week or even month.

are you too ignorant to read the full info? check all the links bro.

 as much as you want to deny it, it does mess people up mentally, it has happened to a couple of my mates one was really bad.

Same as this guy below.

If you have underlying medical conditions it can, of course it can... just as if you have liver problems you should not drink, or if you have epilepsy you should not drive... im not saying that every one can consume marijuana with no worries, as i said before you have to enjoy responsibly and in moderation, as with alcohol.

And to say Marijuana messes more people up than alcohol is ridiculous bordering on insanity.

UK stats - Alcohol related deaths in 2008 = 9,031 (http://www.statistics.gov.uk/CCI/nugget.asp?ID=1091)

marijuana deaths in the history of mankind - 0.

0.

Messes is not death.

I was targeting you saying it does it will not increase mental illness. It will.

I said nothing about alcohol deaths, or if it should or should not remain banned. just pointing out an obvious error. One which as you have shown you knew about, but still included.

ok, if we go onto this argument explain why in Holland mental health statistics are not inflated compared to other countries?

If your argument was correct that legalising marijuana would increase mental problems why isn't there a massive increase in Holland?

there was this one time that a person was laughing so hard that they fell off their couch and died. so that is a indirectly cannabis related fatality.

they say recently in the papers, we have this big drinking problem, ooohh what to do about this drinking problem, there must be something wrong with the british.

the solution to the drinking problem is to legalize cannabis.

i suggest some of you guys check out the facts and myths on marijuana instead of relying on what the media has told you:

http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/

for instance:

'Fact: There is no convincing scientific evidence that marijuana causes psychological damage or mental illness in either teenagers or adults. Some marijuana users experience psychological distress following marijuana ingestion, which may include feelings of panic, anxiety, and paranoia. Such experiences can be frightening, but the effects are temporary. With very large doses, marijuana can cause temporary toxic psychosis. This occurs rarely, and almost always when marijuana is eaten rather than smoked. Marijuana does not cause profound changes in people's behavior.'

check the links for the scientific studies cited.
