Lumpy clutch, poor setting off from junctions... uh oh!
This had been happening for about a week, until a couple of nights ago there was a loud bang and I lost all drive.
Not being the type to know when to give in, I got the spanners out (both the metal versions, and my mate Jamie) and we set about pulling bits off the car.
Several evenings later, this is what I got out of the bellhousing
Totally destroyed, signs of overheating of epic proportions. The cause of this destruction was the clutch release arm had seized up, and left the clutch half engaged causing it to slip and judder... in the end stressing the clutch to the point of destruction.
New unit:
Lots of grease to stop it happening again!
The shiny scratches are where bits of clutch have been getting shot around the inside of the housing.
More coming soon!
