Lumpy clutch, poor setting off from junctions... uh oh!

This had been happening for about a week, until a couple of nights ago there was a loud bang and I lost all drive.

Not being the type to know when to give in, I got the spanners out (both the metal versions, and my mate Jamie) and we set about pulling bits off the car.

Several evenings later, this is what I got out of the bellhousing :D

Totally destroyed, signs of overheating of epic proportions. The cause of this destruction was the clutch release arm had seized up, and left the clutch half engaged causing it to slip and judder... in the end stressing the clutch to the point of destruction.

Lots of grease to stop it happening again!

The shiny scratches are where bits of clutch have been getting shot around the inside of the housing. :D

More coming soon! :D

Have you inspected the flywheel for damage? I had bits of spring inside the bell housing and decided to clean it out in the end as i wasnt sure what the gunk was but probably better out than in!

S60 2.4 Sport 260bhp and 0-60 in 6.3 so not too slow. Just lacking the same "character" as the vectra. Now i blend in with every other car on the road and nobody gives it a second look.:(

this was the compromise. 17" inch alloys, £205 a year tax and absolutely no tuning whatsoever allowed :( and because its not remapped i can run it on cheaper 95 RON petrol too. Previous owner had it running on 95 RON for the last 4 years / 110k miles because he had a fuel card.

As long as it doesnt brake substantially more than the vectra, the extra couple of grand i got my way will soak up the bills and keep her happy. So want a sports exhaust though, the 5 cylinder engine sounds great above 4k RPM but ive been told no :(

having said that the range appears to be crap. I've just checked: milltek, remus, blueflame, magnex, scorpian, piper and none of them do exhausts for the S60.

BSR appear to do one to go with their Stage2. No prices though.
