Hot glue - what's the difference between the clear and white glue?

As title really, I normally just use whatever glue I have when I power up the hot glue gun.

Is the clear glue any better, as I always tend to use that if I can...
 
A few years ago I'm sure you could get white ones that were for bonding wood to wood rather than all purpose but I haven't seen those around recently.

I always found the clear ones worked just as well though.
 
IIRC the white one is more suited to wood specifically, than the clear stuff which is an all round glue (rather like unibond make different types of runny glue, including a white one that is stronger than the wood itself! when set;))..
 
White is for wood to wood, makes a very strong bond. Clear is for most other materials to each other. This is the method I was told many years back (15) and have always used with good results. :)
