As a long sufferer of this friggin annoyance ,im glad to hear of an advancement in a serious step to understand what Tinnitus is and its cause and a serious treatment or cure.

whatever the treatment is they come up with in the future, they best iron out one of its current side effects. which is an ' out of body experience ' .

Everything is always 'just around the corner'. Cure for Tinnitus, cure for Alzheimer's, the next big source of energy, the ability to make humans live for hundreds of years...

I just hope they're right, because if so i was born at the right time :)

That article is from March '09, I've came across it before while searching for possible cures for Tinnitus so when I saw your thread topic I thought that they had made a further break through and got really excited :(

I hope this something that they can remedy in my lifetime.

im sure a cure for cancer was just around the corner 10-20 years ago aswell, dont get your hopes up

And to be fair we can now treat and "cure" a much larger number of cancers than we could 20 years ago.

The "cures" for cancer are always for a specific type or two never all cancer.

I'm of the belief that we'll finally be able to cure a large proportion of cancers if/when we can make the body realise they are not normal cells and kill them off. The destructive power of our immune systems is, for the most part, awesome.

I used to play with mine. you know, vary the pitch and volume. I had it for a few years before I learned how to play with it, now I can eliminate it within about 20 mins of it cropping up and I rarely get it at all now. Look at me, I cured my own tinnitus.

What was the last big disease they actually cured?
I am curious, anyone know? Suppose you could say 'swine flu' with the vaccine, but I doubt it counts as the flu will mutate ayway, so it is not eliminated. They were having fantastic sucess with measles until Doctor Autism spouted his nonsence, hmm. I wonder what the last cure was?

Did you do this by tightening the muscles around your ears and top of your cheeks because that's what I do :)

i have recently just developed it, have had it the past week or so. My ears have recently been blocked so i think thats the cause. I had them syringed but it is still here so im just hoping it is temp becuase of the distrubances. I feel for you guys who have had it years, its very annoying.

Had it for a while. Work in engineering.

Self cure? Would be great to find out how . . . .
I only hear it when people mention it though . . . . Manage to block it out mostly.
