DDR3 RAM does not fit a motherboard which uses DDR2. Look at the link to the Gigabyte webpage I put in my post!!

In the details about the motherboard it says the following:

"Dual Channel DDR2 1333+ MHz
Delivering native support for DDR2 memory up to 1333MHz, GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 motherboards allow users to easily reach higher memory frequencies at lower voltages; achieving higher memory performance with lower power consumption to run even the most memory intensive applications such as high-definition video and 3D games with ease.
* DDR2 1333+ is supported with combination of AM3 processors and qualified memory modules, please refer "Memory Support List" for detail memory support information."

The motherboard will take AM3 processors like the X4 955BE but does not use DDR3. The AM3 Phenom II processors have both DDR2 and DDR3 memory controllers in the CPU.

The two fastest 1TB hard drives are the Samsung F3 and the Western Digital Caviar Black.

I appreciate your reply and advice, but I think you've misunderstood my post as I've already bought these components and am running the DDR3 ram with this motherboard. If this is the case, then I assume it's okay to go ahead and order the 5850 graphics card with this system???

It'll work fine :)

And yes, if you can afford it then the 5850 would compliment a 24" monitor (1920*1200 res) nicely. The games you're playing right now won't tax it to the full, but others will. The 5850 should give you good performance for a couple of years to come.

I'd go for the 5850 at any cost as well. The 5770 performance-wise is inferior to even the 4870. You'd be investing in something not up to its standard (Dx11).

Get the 5850 and keep it as long as you can, should last a while.

Have not got myself but a 5770 xfire set up is supposed to be the best bang for buck at moment.

You would need a better board (2x8 @ least !) which would cost a lttle more but if needed you could buy one 5770 now and add another later.

If you decide to stick with just one card - got to be the 5850.

Sorry had not realised you had already purchased the board - No competition get a 5850

Went for a Saphire 5850 tonight but during the transaction my card was refused and I had to call the bank who confirmed my card had been copied! After spending 30 minutes plus with the bank going through my recent transactions, I got back to OC who accepted my order at about 4.55pm and said they will try to get the card to me for tomorrow - superb customer service :)
