Is a HD5850 worth putting in this rig?

Intel e6300 @ 2.96Ghz| Asus P5N-E SLI | 2GB Geil PC6400C4 ULL
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB | Tuniq Tower | Lian Li PC-7+
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music | 2x WD Caviar 250GB | Corsair HX 520w PSU

Still the same as my sig obviously, aside from i had a 1TB HDD in addition to the other 2.

I know i'll obviously get a performance boost, but i'm wondering if i can really make the most of the card with this rig.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Debatable really. 5850s shine better at 1920x1200 and above, and the processor's not exactly a gaming powerhouse either. Do you have any issues running current games? A 4870 should be pretty good still.

Nothing major, it's actually the GTA episodes being announced that's made me consider the upgrade because GTAIV really doesn't run well.

And having just upgrade to windows 7 i'd like to see Crysis on DX10 at nice settings lol.

Yeah, i've just upgraded to Windows 7 64bit with an eye to doing that.

Personal experience. GTA4 Loves! quad core. I had a dual core and it was ok in other games but not GTA, went quad core and it was silky smooth.
