Be Wary of Steam Abusers

Some idiot trying to get e-mail and password so they recover a potentially old Steam account.

Most likely because their old account was banned and they were quite hurt by the fact that they got caught cheating?

No they want your login details so they can steal your account and sell it quickly before steam takes it back.

Anyone who falls for these links, especially a URL with .tk or .t35 is a very very trusting soul. A guy from another forum got his account stolen from one of these, cause he was stupid enough to fill it out in the off chance it was real. What idiots :)

and what if a young kiddy uses steam and gets it ?

they may not be as wise to the world as yourself ;)

Oh dear.... idoits

saying that I see a lot of that over msn too who wants to nick a msn account is beyond me, just includes the big fat block button, I m more than included to do that over steam oh and report abuse button too :P

what can a website do then?

Not much, unless there is some sort of vulnerability in the browser you are using that allows them to display code which gives them access beyond your browser.

Which is very rare, these sorts of bugs are usually patched within a day or two of discovery.

Or just some spyware or malware, then theirs the info from the log's including ip's, os, browser info, installed plugin's, isp information, referrer infomation, all they need to do is get a piece of code onto your machine and it could easily monitor steam activity or just a key logger, hell just a bit of javascript code to run client side, that could monitor the other tabs in the active browser session.

The site has been removed now anyway. :(

Slightly off topic but I am getting sick and tired of having Blizzard/WoW spam emails sent to 3 of my hotmail accounts on a near daily basis...

Its almost become the norm now, you log in, filter out the WoW scam emails and then check your email.

Had this guy who was a member of the ocuk bad comp 2 group send me this link.

Im guessing the idea is you click link and try to login and then they gain access to your acc and change password? Reported the guy and blocked him. Should make it a private group as already suggested in this thread.

I got that too and told him to **** off.

That is comepletly NOT what it is.

So you know what every scammer does? how interesting  - they probably do a number of things with the account tbf.
