Nothing exciting, but I just thought I'd share a couple of old pics I found of my 944. I REALLY loved this car. Bought it in 1998 and had it for a year or so. Became impractical though as I carry drums. Anyone here had a 944 and what did you think of it?

I've driven lots, almost purchased a few but always found myself backing away, why?

Thats simple, i can't live without AC, and i couldn't stand looking at the 80's tastic dash.

Those issues aside its on of the best cars i've ever driven.

What interior did yours have?

944 S2s appeal to me somewhat.

What are running costs like on these? Is corrosion an issue with the 944? IIRC they're galvanised, so likely not a problem?

Depends who you get to service them, the S2 seemed like the car to go for at first but the turbo is the better car to drive, problem is most of them are the wrong side of 100k and 80% need serious work doing to keep on the road.

For example Hartec reported the next service an S2 i was looking needed was both cams out, new belts / oil seals etc, basically the wrong side of 2k and thats if they cams didn't need changing.

Best one i've seen was a Black Turbo 250 SE with black leather + black dash, It had the sports seats with the deepest side bolsters i'd ever seen, it was in fantastic condition but asking price was 9k.

I had an S2 a few years ago, and it was the best car I've ever had, and bought it as my parents have the cabriolet version, here she is (the best looking 944 I've ever seen imo);

Sold it to a nice chap in Ireland.

I've always fancied a 928s4 myself, any one here owned one? Any advice, comments or things to look out for on them?

Apart from the spoiler that looks a very clean car.

I assume it had a respray at some point in its life.

No AC? My dad owned from new a 944 Turbo SE (250bhp) in platinium rose with the obligatory 80's turbo decal on the bonnet. That definitely had AC.

The spoiler is rare as its an orginal 968 Turbo S item.

To my knowledge it never had a full respray, but obviously certain bits, such as the front bumper were resprayed. The paint on them is just very good. My parents has never been resprayed and with a bit of time will still come up as good as that!

Nope not on the cars i considered buying, I'm not sure if AC was standard fit to a particular model but i've got a funny feeling it was a factory optional extra across the range.

Mine didn't have aircon, but as already mentioned above some of the higher spec turbo's did, I used to just take the whole sunroof panel off in the summer.

Here's a pic of the interior; the sports seats were fantastic the most comfortable and supportive seats I've ever sat in.

968 Turbo S. Now thats one car I would love to drive. Ive never seen one on the road before. I bet they go for big money.

My MD in the 80's always had 944's, lovely car back then and really underrated too. I have a soft spot for the 968CS, I think it's one of the classic 90's Porks and when I have my dream house with a 30 car garage (we need ambition!) I will seek one out I think!

I looked at a couple in years gone by. Couldn't buy the second as I couldn't get in it correctly as the steering wheel was just about pressed into my legs. Enjoyed driving the first though.
