Hi,

What recommendations do people have on both 80mm fan (to run in my psu so ideally need a low starting voltage) and a 120mm fan (for a case fan). I am after a quiet fan that has a good sound to it that won't be annoying, 80mm fan max speed around the 2000rpm area and the 120mm can be as low as 1300rpm area.

Are Xilence ones any good? They seem nice and available for the 120mm fan for a decent price. I would go nexus but I don't like not having any available headroom with the fan.

Also is there any advantage really with running and intake fan and an exhaust fan? From a quiet perspective would running negative pressure in the case be the best?

All wrong answers.

80mm= scythe kama flex SA0825FDB12L or Sharkoon silent eagle 2000

120mm= scythe gentle typhoon D1225C 12B4AP-14 or sharkoon silent eagle 1000 120mm

Ahh good, I can get Sharkoons and Scythe's easy. :D No one know about whether its preferable to have positive or negative case pressure?

I like the noctua nf-p12 from experience, the gentle typhoons, the sflex and the apaches at 120mm are all really well thought of, I am about to try a few apaches.

As a suggestion for the psu, why not use a 120mm fan on an 80mm adapter? ocuk sell them.

Stulid, anyone who jumps out calling people wrong and making out he knows the answer to a question like this is certainly wrong themselves no matter how much experience they think they have.

Hmm thats a good point, a 120mm sticking outside the back of the case. Hadn't thought of that. I have just made a shroud for my psu and will see how I go from there, if the fan doesn't ramp up at all then I will keep with the stock fan. I have removed the fan guard too to minimise the noise without opening up the psu.

My understanding of positive pressure was having more intake fans than exhaust, or no exhaust fans at all so air is exhausted through all the cracks/vents in the case. Negative pressure would be the opposite.
Not sure whether positive/negative would be any different in terms of noise, but personally I would prefer positive pressure otherwise you risk dust being sucked in through the vents/cracks.

El Kuarlos. My experience comes from legitimate reviews using tried and tested scientific methods from multiple sources. You got?
