TV Licence rip off...

I'd rather gouge my ears out with blunt rusty spoons than listen to adverts on the wireless and you're suggesting that increased advertising would be a better thing?

Advertising that they could make some money from and cover their costs would be a good thing. So many local radio stations have been swallowed up by bigger groups as they didn't make enough money that there's now very little properly local radio left.

I don't get people who don't like the license fee. What do you watch?!!

Everything I watch is on the bbc (apart from live premier league football at the pub): Spooks, Top Gear, University Challenge, Hustle, Merlin, Being Human, Newsnight, MOTD, Formula 1, QI, Mock the Week, HIGNFY...

Imagine what it would be like if all the channels were like ITV :(

ITV is pure pleb TV. I can't remember the last thing I've watched on ITV that wasn't a film.

The last thing I watched on there was, from memory the back end of Smokey and the Bandit 2 or 3, about 6 months ago - my dad was watching it at the time :)

It's been a very long time since I actually found anything on ITV that I specifically turned over to watch, which is a pity as going back 15-20 years it used to be on as much as any of the BBC channels here, I haven't even been able to stand The Bill for about 10 years and that used to be a favourite, right up until it became a parody of itself and started relying on Soap type romances, and cliffhanger explosions/murders of the staff on a regular basis.

So, people are happy to pay £60 A MONTH for five million **** cnannels with advertising (Sky etc) yet moan about £145 A YEAR for a license....

I see!

People seriously need to stop slating the TV license. It does our british Media A LOT of good.

people can also slate Media Studies as much as they like, but it does get rid of a lot of ignorance as to how 90% of this countries opinions are formed :p !!

its about having a choice though isnt it.

a previous post said about making BBC channels encrypted or something, so if you didnt pay your fee then you cant watch. i think this is a good idea. if thats not possible just reduce the fee and you will get a lot more people happy to pay

do we know how much the bbc make a year with the license fee?

A tenner a month is nothing for a household. eve on your own. I think it is worh it for the BBC. Worry about your 150 quid council tax bill tbh.

I would have a Tv licence if I could get more than 4 fuzzy channels.

So I don't have one but then the arial isn't even plugged in so I think this is ok.
The odd thing I want to watch can be watched on iplayer or 4od.
