Fix List:

  • iTunes no longer ignores your "Remember password for purchases" setting.
  • Addresses problems with syncing some Smart Playlists and Podcasts with iPod.
  • Resolves a problem recognizing when iPod is connected.
  • Addresses issues that affect stability and performance.

It's fixed the remembering of passwords bug as intended. That was really driving me up the wall.

This has been a biggy for me, I hope it's a good fix.

They need to get a standard issue dock badge for new podcasts in there. The whole point of RSS and podcasts is to do away with the need for manual polling!

Syncing smart playlists with iPod Touch/iPhone still broken (The order on the iPod is not the same as the order in iTunes if Live Updating is enabled). I can't believe they cannot fix such a simple feature that used to work till mid/late last year.

Every time they release an update I think this will be fixed, and it isn't (despite the change log making a possible reference to this issue)

The Zoom button on the UI now does something different to the Window > Zoom menu item and its associated shortcut (Cmd-Ctrl-Z).

Yay for more inconsistency of the crappy green button.

The zoom button in iTunes has always shown the mini-player, nothing has changed here. To zoom in iTunes use option-green clicky button thing.

The mini player button violates the form of every other mac native app! It resized the window for everything else.

They have switched back and forth in the 9.x releases.

No it hasn't. Even recently (can't remember the version), clicking the zoom button did the more typical window sizing behaviour.

Now there's yet more inconsistency in 9.0.3 as, AFAIK, this is the first time the Zoom button and the Window > Zoom menu item (and associated keyboard shortcut) have done different things.

9.0 broke the iTunes zoom button and made it zoom the window, in 9.0.1 it was restored to the function it's always had, ie the mini player. I'd forgotten about 9.0. Not sure how I could forget that because it annoyed me a lot as I use the mini player all the time.

In 9.0.1 onwards it can be reverted to zoom by using
Code:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes zoom-to-window -bool YES

9.0.3 is no different to 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 with respect to the zoom button.

Of course, this all depends on whether you think that the zoom button should actually zoom or invoke the mini player! Because I've always known it to invoke the mini player, that means it's the 'right' function for me ;) Other opinions may *and will* vary :D

I was pressing Cmd-Ctrl-Z to switch in and out of the mini-player last week pre 9.0.3. Now it no workie.

Actually, looks like this is now Cmd-Shift-M. New in 9.0.3?

I personally never press the zoom button with the mouse in any application. Its just the inconsistency of the entire Zoom concept that annoys me. Apple GUI is supposed to be about fit and finish.

Strange isn't it, iTunes is the only application I regularly use the zoom button in!
