For one reason or another i've found myself a bit screwed and a little stuck in Thailand. Basically my maestro card is a pile of steamy stuff and only works on very expensive sites, my korean friends cant book me something back in Korea for whatever reasons. Is it possible to buy cheap flights at the airport itself?

Of course you arent guaranteed to get where you want I realise

Considered booking at a travel agent? I did that when booking domestic travel in Thailand - it was cheaper than using the websites and quicker. I'm sure if you take your passport with you, you can pay in cash and they could book you a flight. We basically approached a few, got some quotes, paid the one with the best price and came back an hour later to collect our tickets. Just an idea...

You'd have better luck phoning up airlines. Probably best not to tell them you're screwed, as they may start seeing £ signs in their eyes.

You can sometimes get cheap flights, my friend managed it in Paris. Had to wait around a bit, but got a cheap flight due to people not turning up. They'd prefer to fill the flight than have empty seats (to a point). Just ask nicely, and you never know.

I used a travel place on Thong Lo for all my flights from Thailand other than my home flight which I just booked online. Try going into one on the street and see what they give you, I doubt you'd get great offers at the airport to be perfectly honest.

I bought a flight to Laos from Thailand at Suvarnabhumi airport a couple hours before departure and I paid a lot less than my friend who had booked online a few weeks in advance.

I would say some advice is to never travel without a Visa or Mastercard, except I was in Berlin trying to buy something only to find that the shop only accepted Maestro!! So I walked to a cash point, got out some cash, then went back to pay...

Very odd indeed.

Your best bet is probably a travel agent or British web sites which accept Maestro.
I'm surprised you even got to Thailand with a Maestro :p
