Didn't think just the CCC would change the Driver Packaging Version.

I didn't really take much notice to it but yeah damm it must be the drivers >.< that's a pain, need to report it ASAP, not a massive problem but still, I like the monitor to actually turn off

TBF, its a huge oversight (not to mention incredibly amateur), so after having yet another hard lockup with the 10.1 hotfix, I yanked them off the PC and I'm trying out the 8.70RC2 leaked set from a week or two back.
Power saving back working properly, which already puts them ahead of the official release, but its a case of wait-and-see to see if it helps out with the lockups.
re-downloaded the entire driver package and these install as 10.1, not 9.12

Doh! I've been Nvidia most of my life until now.
until now.I've been using the 10.1 drivers and currently the 10.1 hotfix drivers and neither are particularly stable. Both have been less reliable than the 9.12 drivers. I've had hard-locks, with the jarring audio tone, and soft-locks; I've had problem on boot and after an hour; I've had problems with graphics intensive tasks and simply browsing web pages. My 4870 was rock-solid but the 5970 is a liability. Gaming performance is great but I've noticed more graphical errors and now I have to worry about whether my computer is going to crash on boot.
ATi keeps updating the drivers but instead of fixing the already present issues it just seems to be introducing new ones.

I haven't had a problem with the drivers of as yet with my new build and the 5970, when I first built it I was getting ramdom beeps from the motherboard which indicated that there was no VGA connected, I updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version (303) and the beeps have gone (P6TD Deluxe).

Did you sweep to clean the 10.1 drivers first matey, or did you just re-install the 9.11's over the top, thinking of going back to the 9.12's.
Ignoring drivers but in reply to all the problems with the 5 series.
I bought a Saph 5870 and suffered horrendous problems, grey, green screens lockups within minutes just trying to browse etc never did get all my programs ported to win7 as always locked sometimes with noise some without.
Sometimes it would lock up at boot up and often locked at the log in screen or the lower half of the screen would be corrupted graphics at log in screen and lock up.
After months got a Saph vaporX replacement and was poleaxed when it started giving the same problems.
After a period of head meet wall, in desperation just as i was about to package it for another rma, i slapped it into the 2nd of 3 different pci slots.
All my problems disappeared, not a squeak not a flicker.
Nothing but absolute total stability.
Of course i am resigned to never having a 2nd card, given the option of rma all the items individually when its more than likely the combination of parts together that causes it. I decided to live with it as is.
I could not face the prolonged downtime of sending all the parts back on individual rma. Let alone the cost of posting only to have them returned as not faulty.
Anyway worth a thought and try as for some of you like me it just might solve all your problems.
Tbh a lot of the problems remind me of times when you had programs sharing bios memory incorrectly.

Grateful if someone can confirm if I'll need to, or recommend to driversweeper to clear the 10.1's before going back to the 9.12's, or ok to revert back to the 9.12'sover the top.

Uninstalled the CCC software from the control panel and then reinstalled the 9.12's.
I know it works because now my monitor goes into Standby mode!
Sorry to hear that but myself and a number of others on here have never had any issues with this method. I hear far more problems from those that have used driversweeper / cleaner or whatever software than those that sing its praises. The drivers automatically uninstall the old driver anyway so there shouldn't be any need to uninstall anything before hand.
Just re-read your post and you say that you uninstalled the previous driver, personally I wouldn't have bothered. Always try the easier, simpler fix first....just install the new driver.
