ATI 10.1 Hotfix (ME2)

Ohh your a smart one arent ya lol
obviously the thread was related to crossfire issue but wouldnt you think ATI would have Single card AA issues sorted before Crossfire Issues ?

either way, ATI are still a joke.

WTF you going on about, the fix works on my single 5870, screens below @ 8xAA, get your facts straight before you type ****.

Like the guy who posted pics said, it does actually work, some objects do remain a little jaggy but for the most part it works

Make sure you enable it to 4xAA so that it's noticeable AND go to 'AA mode' and enable Adaptive Anti-Aliasing this will help, I notice it straight away when you start the game if you look at the computer display which has 'new game, load game, extras etc' look out the outer edge of the orange holagraphic and it's clearly smoother :)

I just wish ATI would fix the anoyiing flash bang bug in MW2 and graphic flickering in Bad Comany 2

Can't say I have the same problem but it's different for everyone make sure you submit the issue to ATi feedback program, you can find the link in there catalyst forum

I'm guessing I should install these drivers rather than the 10.1s?

Edit: Going to benchmark, just for fun. Crysis, 1680x1050 2xAA, everything on high, 64-bit and DX10.

Anyone else getting around a 50% or more drop in fps during cutscenes with AA enabled ?

Can be getting 40-60 fps in-game @1680x1050 then a cutscene appears and the fps drops to 10-15fps... Turn off AA / or disable Cat AI & the fps goes back to 40+

Similiar story here - I'm using a similiar trick to get AA working on the nVidia side (UT3/AA+HDR compat profile) and in cutscenes the fps drops back massively... I think its due to the lighting options (Theres an option for how many lights in cinematics) as extra lights + deffered shader + forced MSAA can cause quite a lot of slowdown unless your using the DX10.1 RP.

Well, Crysis was being an arse, so I went for the only other benchmark game I have, which is Dirt 2. Spec in my sig, everything set to high, 1680x1050 and 4x MSAA.

9.12 Hotfix:
3100 frames, 38.1 average FPS, 29.7 min
3145 frames, 38.1 average FPS, 28.9 min

10.1 Hotfix:
3235 frames, 38.6 average FPS, 31.5 min
3192 frames, 38.8 average FPS, 31.2 min

Didn't bother installing the regular 10.1's. A nice improvement in my eyes, though we also know that the Dirt2 benchmark isn't the most reliable, since its different every time, but still.

Anyone else got issues with automatic fan control with these drivers? Installed them last night and played some Mass Effect 1, got a load of tearing with a known fine overclock then realised my fan speed hadn't ramped up. :(

Could someone with crossfired 5770's check their fps at this part of the Normandy ? Seems to be where mine dip the most other than in cutscenes, and I'm just wondering if my fps are on the low side.

Running a i7 [email protected] / 6GB / Win 7.

All settings maxed in ME2 (filmgrain off)
1680x1050 4xAA adaptive multisampling set in CCC
Maxshadowres set to 2048 in GamerSettings.ini
Tirlinear filtering on in GamerSettings.ini
Vsync off in GamerSettings.ini & CCC
Smoothframerate off in GamerSettings.ini

Not running 5770 cf - 260 SLI here (found a tweak to prevent the slowdown with AA compat.) getting over 100fps in the same scene with maxed settings including ini tweaks for higher quality than normal.

EDIT: I'm fine there but go down to engineering and look out over the loading bay... ouch my fps dropped by 2/3rds there with AA on - turning it off and its back over 100 there to.

It's only looking at that particular angle the fps nosedives. If I turn away from the medbay, the fps goes to 80'ish.

Don't get the same drop as you when looking out over the loading bay with 4xAA enabled ( assuming I'm looking from the same viewpoint )

What was the tweak to prevent the slowdown with AA compat?

Looks like it didn't work entirely... it just changed which scenes slowdown - if you look at the 2 images posted above (yes that is the view I meant) I get roughly the same framerates but the other way around - 100+ looking at the med bay, ~40 looking over the cargo bay.

Don't know if it'll help you Rroff, but lowering my maxshadowresolution back to 512 helped considerably, more so in cutscenes than ingame.

I got around a 25-33% improvement in fps over the 1024 or 2048 I was using.
