I'm shopping around for a new monitor now upgrading from my trusty 1680x1050, looking to grab a higher res 1 so either 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 is good.
I'm not much of a "monitor" person, so I don't really know what things make a monitor good for certain purposes like contrast ratio's, response times and such, so I thought I'd ask you guys for a little bit of advice.
Main uses for the monitor will be gaming, mainly FPS or RTS games. Only using it as my PC screen, not looking for it to double up as a console screen or a TV anything like that, just gaming, gaming and more gaming :D

Budget is around about £150-£250, if I can get a decent 1 for £150 I would take that, but I don't mind stretching it up to £250 if there is a really good 1 available for the price, so anything in that range is good. Size and brand I'm not fussed on, just throw me your best monitors and help me spend my hard earned $$ :D

I suppose something around 23" - 24" is good, but if there's something slightly bigger for a good price I can always go with that, but I guess that won't be very likely.

No other constraints apart from budget no :)

Yeah I was looking at the top 1, it looks pretty nice as well as being a good price.

Is there any others you may reccommend? or is that pretty much the 1 you'd stick with right now?

Oh they're in stock again, that is extremely tempting!

Anyone got any good reviews of the monitor or personal experience? I can't find anything online.

I know it says B27.... but same thing minus the swivel stand and stuff (not worth mentioning like speakers 1.5W instead of 2W, ACR 20,000 instead of 50,000 etc.)

I thinking about buying this, but I might wait and see if a similar 1200p comes out, if this one was I would have scooped it up straight away.

Yeah I checked that review out, it says the monitor is great except for contrast or something? I don't know how that would effect games.

I think the choice is between that or the BenQ LED backlit monitor which goon mentioned.

Yes but IMO that's typical TN technology, the other (Samsung) monitor that it mentioned (2500:1) was IPS :)

I think (correct if wrong) that the contrast ratio is bascially the darkest black and the whitest white i.e. in-game in dark areas if the contrast sucked, it will appear greyish and not proper full black.

And I think that the ACR (dynamic) contrast is only relevant/useful on movies as it adjusts the backlight.

But not sure how the LED will have any effect on it - it's just a different light source perhaps just more responsive.

Up to you if you wanna pay £100 for more screenage :)

Ah it was the ACR contrast I think it mentioned, the blacks contrast ratio was meant to be really good, this makes it even harder :( lol

I'm always a bit "Errrrr" with my money, because at the end of the day, it's £150 more, for what? 3" more screen? I keep asking myself if it's really worth it.

If it makes you feel better it's just 2.6 inches lol:
yea I know, I hate making decisions as well.

27" Iiyama HxW 33.615cm x 59.76cm (2,008.83 sq.cm.)
24" BenQ HXW 29.89cm x 53.14cm (1,588.35 sq.cm.)

H difference: 3.725cm (1.46inches)
W difference: 6.62cm (2.6inches)
