ok, more inane questions, sorry :o

just putting the final touches to my 1st build. however i've managed to confuse myself. i dont know where to plug in the 3 case fan connectors. onto the motherboard or directly to the power supply?? also the gfx card, the power supply has a 6+2 pin pci-e connector cable, i'm pretty sure i just plug in the 6 pins and leave the extra 2 'hanging' or tape them up outta the road?

gfx card is sapphire vapour x hd5770, motherboard is ga-p55a-ud3, psu is corsair tx650 and its a cm-690 case

sorry to be a pest

On the GPU just leave the extra connector hanging in the wind, case fans it down to personal choice, but I would plug them into the motherboard.

case fans down to personal choice? so i can plug in them in via their 3pin connector onto the mobo or via molex to the psu?

Sorry, doing 2 things at once :o, Plug them into the motherboard, if you find them noisy you may be able to adjust the speed.

ah bum, mobo has 2x3 pin fan headers, but one of them says pwr _fan the other sys_fan, does it matter which fan i plug into these. also the case front fan cable wont reach either of them. oh and theres a 4 pin sys_fan header, but i aint got any fans with 4 pin connector!! am i being totally blonde here??

again sorry for being a pest gents, tried googling but just confused myself further!

Don't worry, were here to help :)

The 4 pin fan connector can take 3 pin fans, it does not matter which fan goes were.
If the front fan does not reach any fan headers then the only option may be to use the psu to power the fan directly.

The 4 pin header will probaby be the cpu header, this will accept a 3 pin fan, the 4 pin connection is for a pwm fan, same as the stock intel cooler. The system fan and pwr accept 3 pin fans, though you may not be able to control the speed of a fan connected to the pwr header. On asus boards for example, any fan connected to pwr will run 100% all the time.

ah excellent, with a bit of jiggery pokery i might be able to to make the front case fan reach one of the headers. failing that i just plug it into the psu via one of the molex adaptery things, right? (see i know all the techy words!!)

many thanks fellas
