Am I the only one who can't get hooked?

I thought Oblivion and Fallout 3 where brilliant. I am also a Final Fantasy fan.

Dragon Age has no proper world to run around and for some reason I cannot put my finger on I cannot get hooked.

Anyone else not thinking it is THAT good?

I felt the same so I unistalled it,its a very different rpg to the likes of fallout 3 where you can roam freely but in saying that Im gonna give it another go at some stage.

I liked it quite a lot because it's very different to other RPG's I've played.
The combat is quite good and the storyline isn't bad. I restarted and chose a different class about halfway through and then got bored the second playthrough because I'd got about 20 hours played on my first character :P

In a way I think having several different stories is bad, as someone like me who works full time feels they don't want to get into it due to time commitments.
I am re-installing Mass Effect 1 now:)

Nah I cant either. It's just abit too repetitive for me.

Combat is awesome and there are some good/funny parts of the story but it's not enough to get me hooked like the Fallout 3 story did.
Maybe because a story about people living in bunkers their whole lives in a nuclear world is abit more original than knights and magic :p

I love Bioware, but Dragon Age Origins is one of those games i didn't take a liking to, so i never purchased it.

i feel the same way as the OP,
i think i just hate RPGs with no respawnable mobs/areas to go just to fight. it seemed so so linear that you go to every place on your map, do the mission there then thats IT.

i did give it a fair crack, but didnt bother completing it, now i couldnt stand the thought of playing it again, not even an hour or two to finish off the main story

It was OK and I continued on for awhile, but near the last quarter of the game it crashed while I was half way through a quest and I just never bothered to turn the game on again.

i cant get into it because its too derivative, yes it has a brilliant conversation system but so what, mass effect had this

i understand its trying to be a old style baldurs gate rpg, but it just seems like all its best ideas are taken from pre existing games.

I bought Oblivion & fallout 3 and played them for 5 mins and thought they were pants FPS's, same with mass effect 1, are these games supposed to be good then?

Didn't seem a patch on games like HL2 back in the day.

Am I missing something?

I think it's great, on my fourth playthrough now and still haven't did all the sidequests and tried all the class combos I'd like to. Loved FO3, Morrowind, Oblivion and all the other greats. The story sucked me in and as an ex-wow player i find min/maxing my characters and gear quite involving! It's taken a bit of a back seat since I got titan quest on the cheap (£2.50!!) on steam though.

Yup, Oblivion/Fallout 3 are RPG's not pure FPS's. Their main aim is to get the RPG part right, and simply put it in a "FPS" style camera.

I had the opposite, I couldn't get into oblivion or fallout 3 that well, whereas dragonage drew me straight in.

The big problem for me with FO3 etc was that there was no real feel of progression throughout the game, especially in unmodded form...

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I'm considering reinstalling Baldur's Gate 2. Despite DAO being technically superior in almost every respect, for some reason there was infinitely more detail, immersion and suspension of disbelief in those sprites stuck on 2D backgrounds in all the infinity engine games.

DAO's a good game, it's just that, as you say, it doesn't have that hook. I remember I couldn't wait to get home from work and fire up BG2. Even the main menu music used to give me goosebumps despite having heard it a thousand times.

I found the story boring. Its pretty much Mass Effect with different characters, specter/grey warden etc.

same here,i think dragons age is complete tosh gameplay but the graphics are great, overated rubbish tbh just like tf2.

You are not alone thought it was a total snooze fest myself, it needed more loot and customization felt very much like an unfinished rush released game to me.Felt like a really nice house but without any furniture in yet just feels empty.
