Clockwork Orange ending

How do you think the end of the film finishes? Is Alex cured or is he just mental? I love this film and the ending but have always wondered if he was just mental at the end or if he was playing everyone

I thought he had overcome the treatment and was back to his normal self.

Indeed, back to state of self at beginning of film but now government sponsored.

Does a fantastic job of winding you up when he lies there and gets the PM to feed him.

SPOILERS:

The film leaves out the last chapter of the book. In the film, he's back to his old ways. In the book, he realises his mistakes and changes his ways of his own free will.

to me the 'program' was flawed. the brain washing to associate violence with pain . what about self defense? he could not defend himself without becoming very sick.

That's part of the point: in the book at least (I've not seen the film) he gets severely beaten by his own gang because he can't fight back. The therapy is a VERY blunt tool.

Some verisons say that he is cured, and some just end it so you do not know. - As far as I know though, I would imagine he was cured.
