Nissan GTR v 599 (videos)

What are the 'ring times on both cars?
I think the GTR is quicker, but I'm still a little sceptical about ring lap times. Some companies view it as important and devote a lot of time and effort to getting good results (Nissan, BMW, Renault etc). Others have their own race track (Ferrari).

Do Ferrari let others like Nissan on their track so we can have a fair comparison of a circuit car for car?

Straight line speed the Ferrari has it but I thought the nissan was a beast through the corners which is where it makes its time up... also what is the price difference?

So you've shown us a video of a 599 which costs significantly more than a GTR, and it won in a straight line.

I fail to see what result anyone else was expecting

OK maybe it's just me then. I really expected it to be much closer. 4WD is a great asset when trying to put down a lot of HP.

Not really on a straight line run. It may have the edge from the standing start, but thats about it.

599 = £200,000? - 0-60 = 3.4 seconds?
GTR = £65,000? - 0-60 = 3.2 seconds with launch control, 3.8 seconds without (improved to 3.5 seconds in models since March 2009)

So the GTR should be 70% slower than the Ferrari going by cost / performance? Not that it works like that obviously... after a point each ounce of speed becomes exponentially more!

I'm not sure it was expected. The GTR is quick and has 4WD. I was expecting an even match.

The GTR is very impressive but is is a littel heavy (less of a gap than expected), but does have well over 100bhp less.

Nit picking here, but I would still give anything to have either. Will consider a GTR in 4-5yrs time depending on their prices and reliability etc. Plus it has 4 seats to dump some children into, so it could even be a family wagon :D
