Pope urges catholic bishops to fight against Equality Bill

The whole gay thing is rather funny in a way, by suppressing them and putting social pressure on them to conform. You are in fact making them breed passing on that which makes them gay in the first place, their DNA. leave them alone, let them be gay and they are not going to pass on their DNA.

Haha, massive assumption that homosexuality is heritable.

The interesting thing is that the free market, as originally conceived by people like Adam Smith, was assumed to operate in a moral fashion because consumers etc would show some morals in their choices. These days, it's all about lowest cost, and morals go out of the window, so the state attempts to impose morality and everything gets screwed up.

The US in it's early days progressed rapidly to out-compete Europe. Costs were cut through efficient processes, not by shipping the work to China. Unfortunately it came to a point where the market leaders decided that competition was no longer good, and used government powers to end the free market, establish cartels and oligopolies etc. Now the cost of compliance is difficult to shoulder for all but the largest firms.

Look at the bankrupt states today. California - the employment rate is below 50% of the working age population, a sizable chunk on welfare, large numbers of state employees.

The same book that preaches willingness to commit infanticide (and one's own child no less!) as one of the greatest things one could do, in the name of one's God? I don't particularly wish to give such a message any platform whatsoever, or for a platform to be available for it.

Who cares what it preaches. You can't blame a book for what people do or don't do.

That's just as bad as blaming videogames and rap music for any murders or muggings that occur in this country.

I'm with the Catholic Church on this one.

Also wasn't there last week a bill in the House of Lords (which they blocked) that was going to stop organizations appointing based on relgion?..

I'm all for 'equal opportunites in the workplace' (well only so far as race/relgion/sexual orientation.. there's got to be some sort of "no you're crap at the job" bit left!) etc but stopping (for example) a Christian charity (e.g. a Church) from only appointing Christians? Does seem rather stupid! Or making a Islamic charity employ Hindus?

What making religions follow the tenants of thir faith? (Tolerance, forgiveness, peace)

Yeah they should employ people from people from all backgrounds. Life is a mix of people, get used to it.

Unless you target stuff at the roots, then you will never get true change.
