Cost for full respray on an e39

Purely out of interest, how would it cost for a full respray on an e39 sport?

For a proper respray? Far more than £1,200.

No engine bay and limited to "visible" only? Perhaps closer to that value but do you want it to be a decent job? Same colour or different?

£1800 minimum (if its delivered as a bare body shell, prepped & ready to paint).

£3-6k depending on the quality of the work if they have to prep it themselves (get a mechanic in, etc etc).

Same colour. £1500+
New colour.. blank cheque. Depends how much of the car needs to be disassembled and re-assembled and if this is before or after.

ideally you'd want it taken down to a bare shell with engine removed, spend a grand on that and prep, primer alone, then £2-£3k on some amazing paint

A huge amount of money, or mine would be Estoril Blue. We are talking thousands to get it right.

Why?

Well I'd love an e39 sport and saw one in beautiful condition for a relatively cheap price but was in a disgusting colour so just wondered. I'd have one in avus blue :p

Don't want to pay out £3000 on insurance for an e39 anyway so dout I will be getting one lol

Not quite. It's evident quite a few people have no real understanding of what goes into painting a car. 90% of the cost is in getting the car up to the stage where it's got a nice flat primer coat, from there on out it's plain sailing. Simply mix up some paint and spray it on. That doesn't take all that long and painters aren't well paid, paint material doesn't cost all that much either.

It very much depends on that quality you want. You can go from a cheap same colour blowover to a full on job stripping the whole car back to bare metal and starting from fresh.

If you want it totally pristine then upwards of 2k for a car that size.

Go to eastern europe ( Poland) and so it for 1800-3000 Zloty ( PLN) ( 400 to 650 quid) if you have the time.

I wouldn't let myself be ripped off paying over 1200 quid for a respray, 1200 quid is already a rip-off.

They didn't do any 'disgusting colours' as standard, only on the Individual Program.

I take it you've seen that greeny brown one thats been for sale since the dawn of time?

Buying E39 Sports because you find one at a 'relatively cheap price' probably isnt the most sensible of ideas.
