Hi,

I've been looking at the 5800 recently, either to buy as PAYG or on contract. There's a contract offered by 3 (Three), for £25/month - unlimited texts, 75 minutes/month and unlimited internet. All subject to fair use policy of course. However £25 a month is significantly more than what I'm spending on my phone currently; I probably top up £10 every 4-5 weeks.

I can get the phone for £150 on PAYG, which is 6 months payment on contract. After which I would have no obligation to spend any further monies. However I wouldn't be getting the internet connection.

Is it worth going contract, even though by the time the term ends I'd have spent enough to purchase the phone 6 times over (more if you count the phones current market devaluation over time)? Or is it worth buying the phone as PAYG and finding a cheap internet connection for it?

To quell the inevitable naysayers; I realise I don't need a new phone as I only spend £10 every 4-5 weeks, but I wantz the gadgetz. Plus the Sat Nav and internet would be handy for me as I do a fair bit of travelling by motorcycle. :)

Cheers.

Look at the o2 deals, they offer unlimited web and 500 text for 1 month with a £15 top up

Just looked myself for a £10 top up you get 300 text and unlimited web also.

3 PAYG offers 150mb internet with every top-up (£5 minimum). If you're using wifi at home, you could probably get away with only 300mb a month (especially since the credit stacks and lasts for 90 days).

You could look at some third-party contract offers such as this or this.

Alternatively you could consider GiffGaff, an O2 MVNO, which currently offers free internet on PAYG I believe.

Finally, if you do go for the contract with 3, you can get £30 if you get a friend already on 3 to refer you

I got the 5800 on three back in october on a £20 contract - It's their "Internet Texter" plan - 200mins, unlim net, unlim texts.
