Nissan GTR v 599 (videos)

He is without a doubt, no not driven and prob never will but I started it on the drive :D. I went in it when he was running it in and had to drive at 4k+ revs everywhere. The kick in the seat feeling is something else. Despatched of 3 cars on a A road with such ease.

If I had the money I would have one tomorrow :)

Aye, the break-in can be a bit tedious but it's a good way to learn about the car before going banzai and they tend to run better afterwards as well. The overtaking ability is great but what still gets me is what it does apexing and exiting a corner, it's daft :D. Hassle him for a drive.

(You might want to remove the Koenigsegg vid, its posted it a bit above you :))

is that a £12k upgrade? from memory that involves a pair of superchargers
Who said anything about it being £12K?

Look Ferraris are expensive. You can never, ever compare a Ferrari and a Nissan value-wise. The Nissan is always going to win. But as demonstrated by some of the circuit times they are comparable performance-wise, at least under very specific circumstances.

the comparison between the two cars is bound to come down to value given the difference in their costs to start with. if were not considering price, why not just get schumacher's ex F1 car? that really would make a pointless game of top trumps

Don't be so ridiculous.

The GTR never really had a chance, out all of the tests a rolling start is one of the worse case scenarios I could think of for the GTR.

no, honestly, it really would be a pointless game of top trumps if price is not a consideration at all.

when i get home ill have a peak on youtube to see if there is anything on there about those novitech 599s. the videos ive seen of twin turbo gallardos are amazing

Straight line grand prix's IMO are not a good representation for comparing models. Before you even start the Nissan is shy 6 cylinders.

It is bloody impressive what the GT-R is capable of, but comparing it to a F599 is daft. All IMO :)

Is this the conversion though £38k?

Apparently the Veyron is faster than a 599. ;)

wasnt euro fighter faster than the veryron?

either way, i dont think anyone is saying the 599 isnt cool so no need to get defensive spie... its a cool car!

as for the gtr. its 10kg heavier than the 599 as well and has 4wd (more tranny losses) making it even more of an achievement. those jap horses must be HUGE :P

Nothing has yet bettered one of these, no jet, rocket, combustion engine, this is where it's at pace wise, especially the 1.3

Ah yes. Such a deceptive vehicle. Such power, such presence. Only the lucky few will own such a pedigree machine.

If people want to compare a GT-R to a 599 on roll then surely the cars will be compared in other ways and probably the biggest factor in any car purchase is price. If there was a video of a 599 getting trounced in a 150-250mph roll with a Veyron the first thing I would think of is "yeah, it should do, look at the price of the bloody thing for a start", don't think I'm alone in that.

The Switzer 800 package has been rolled out in Europe and it is devastatingly fast by all accounts. It's a fair bit quicker than anything Novitec Rosso offer for the 599 as far as I can see but judging the two packages on price is unfair because the NR offering is a more complete package by a long shot.

Nissan have made a rod for their own back when it comes to comparisons. They have priced the car ludicously low for its performance and point-to-point ability amongst other things and outclasses its real competitors by such a margin that every magazine or motoring publication has had some form of silly shootout now.

They know the GT-R has had more column inches over the last 3 years than anything else and you stick a GT-R on a cover against something tasty, it'll sell. Veyrons, ZR-1, GT2, 599 etc. The GT-R gets knocked down on 1/4 miles and top end pull but fights back in other ways, to such a degree, the comparisons are still happening. That and the fact some badge-jockeys don't like a relatively cheap bit of Jap tin being mentioned in the same breath. I'm just waiting for Janes Defence Weekly to report back that the M1 Abrams low down grunt is superior on loose terrain and that the GT-R is better suited as a recon vehicle on the modern battlefield for the farce to complete itself.

Seriously, the GT-R has validated itself enough times now. Enjoy it for what it is, not what can beat it.
