Will this RAM:
Corsair Dominator 4 GB ( 2 x 2 GB ) Memory - DIMM 240-pin - 1066 MHz ( PC2-8500 )

Work with this mobo:

Abit IP35
Which says:
# 4 X 240-pin DIMM sockets support max. memory capacity 8GB
# Supports Dual channel DDR2 800/667 un-buffered Non-ECC memory

I'm guessing yes, but not at full speed?

Any help appreciated

It will work. I had that board for a while and I could run 1066 on it but I also heard from end users that some boards would not run 1066 at all.

Do you already have this MOBO?

Yes, but only run 2gb of ram and would like to upgrade to 8gb of the above stuff and wanted to know what would happen.

8GB on that board will likely run in the DDR800 range. You almost certainly will not be able to hit 1066 due to the load of 4 modules on the memory controller.

I see, I was more concerned that the board says it only supports "Dual channel DDR2 800/667" does this mean the above will be fine but run slower? Or is it best just to get 4gb?

If you need 8GB, get 8GB. You may have to run it at DDR800 or less. Only you know what your usage is and only you can determine how much RAM you need.

ive always gone with gb even when its not really needed as you never know if it will be needed in the future or not

I don't any photoshop or video editing, would just like a smoother windows experiance and I game so thought it would help. My current poison is the new battlefield, and I thoguht with 8gb it would run nicer along with a 4890, but if having 8gb is going to cause problems then I could just get 4gb.

6gb total would be fine, you probly wouldnt notice any difference if you upped it to 8gb

You do not need 8gb for any game, now or in the near future.

if you do need more, buy some at a later date, but I have never come close to using 4gb and all I really do is game on my rig.

4gb@faster speeds>8gb slower speeds for gaming, just my opinion though.
