Well they did want to try to have the combat as similar to Advent Children. Versus will have even more of that, but then it is more of an action game.I'm not fond of the whole 'everyone you attack gets flung 50ft in the air and you jump up to fight them there' visuals though. That's a load of <censored!>.

Have you played a Final Fantasy since 7? 8,9,10,12 all had no materia, they had their own things that were just as fun. So does 13.
The huge explorable world thing is basically gone, Final Fantasy 12 was like a lame instanced MMO, the last proper one we got was in Dragon Quest VIII.
The battles actually look like the best in the series for me, and complaints about linearity, personally mean nothing to me as X is my favorite FF and that was basically one path to the end which only remotely opened up in the calm lands.
Cant really judge stories and characters since I dont have the game yet.
Squaresoft has never really been the same since it became Square Enix.
Nah, the story is totally new every single time, different characters, different world.
Do I need to have played ALL the FF's before this one to understand it?

zzzz at people comparing every thing final fantasy to 7. It was a good game yes but that's one game in the series stop expecting them to make every game similar to 7.
If they did that there would be no point in even continuing the series... oh look another FF game with materia and a guy with a big sword how very new and refreshing.
