Going rate for travel costs per mile

Where I work we broadly follow the guidelines. 40p per mile for business use for non company car drivers or those who don't get a car allowance. 11p per mile for those who do.

21p + car allowance here. It still covers the fuel on my 4.3 auto so i think it seems fair enough as rates go. Note that rates are rarely comparable between company car/car allowance drivers, and people who are expected to use their own cars. In the latter the rate needs to include all aspects of running the car, not just the fuel.

58p a mile also, thats only up to 3,500 miles a year. It then drops to 22p/mile for anything over.

~32p / mile for personal car use. Reviewed every 3 months and adjusted to average pump price

I would refuse to use my car for company business with that rate provided you dont get a car allowance. It is supposed to cover ALL aspects of car use not just fuel - it must cover the wear and tear on your car, the depreciation, etc etc through using it for company usage.

I bet your car costs more than 32p a mile to run.

Again they don't have to pay you 40p, same with anything over. Theoretically you should be able to claim 8p a mile as a tax deductable expense.

25p a mile from my own company.

When i worked for Wessex Water i was getting 95p a mile, and it was rising every time fuel went up, last time i heard it was well over £1 a mile :D

Regular user payment of £55 per month plus 35p a mile. Usually works out that a months travel covers the finance payment, tax, insurance and most of the fuel i used, so pretty much free motoring for me! :)
