You love someone who has given you back some of the money he took from you in the first place? :)

Exactly. They only owe you money cause they messed up and took too much from you in the first place. Do they pay you interest on it? Nope.

I've been waiting on £700 since October, it's finally been released last week. Lazy tax men steal my monies!

Aside from the fact that this is bait, why do you have to actually get your tax back? Why can't they just NOT take it? :s

For people who are employed with no benefits or unclaimed expenses etc. it should be very straightforward and if your payroll department do their job properly then your tax deduction should be spot on.

The problem comes if people have benefits where the value changes each year or HMRC don't update your tax code correctly, or your payroll department don't use the correct tax code as advised by HMRC.

Or if you're self employed, you may be due a 'balancing refund' rather than payment.

However, that said, HMRC issued A LOT of incorrect tax codes during January for the 10/11 tax year! So they have failed... again.
