Hi guys,

Recently decided to upgrade to a faster processor, and had to move memory and motherboard as part of the process. Suffering a bit of a hit on the build as the memory is DoA, but have realised to my surprise that I'm on a mere 460W power supply :o

It's a decent unit, about 2 years old, Akasa PaxPower, and has been solid to date, but I'm not sure if it will handle the jump up from my old core2duo E4300 to the new kit :(

System specs:

Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition
Asus M4A79XTD Evo
4GB 1.65V DDR3
nVidia 8800GT
Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty including front plate (uses a floppy drive power connector)
1TB Seagate 7200.12 hard drive
400GB WD hard drive
USB-powered scanner
2x120mm case fans

Planned upgrade: another 4GB memory if prices ever dip below £50 ^^

Please can anyone advise whether I'm going to be pushing the limits of this ol' PSU of mine, and if so, what wattage I need to aim at? Be a bit gutting if I have to drop another £50 into a PSU, but less so than finding I can't power the thing once it's built!

Thank you :)

It should cope no problems though its a good idea to look around and find if its a trustworthy unit - dont want it taking any of your hardware down.
As long as it has the right connectors there should be no issues (8pin CPU can sometimes be a problem).

It got 9/10 on Trusted Reviews, and was getting generally good comments back in the day, so I'm fairly content with it if it will still have output enough :)

Definitely has all the required connectors, got a brief power-on of the new gear yesterday, but never got as far as installing windows due to impending RMA.

Thanks for the advice :)
