We have a HD-DVD recorder with a 250gb hard drive in it. So all we do is record a program on our SKY-HD box, then go into the planner, select the program we've recorded and choose the "Copy" option. It then transfers the recording from our SKY box to the hard drive in our recorder. Then we just burn the dvd on the recorder. We burned the whole of season 7 of 24 like that :)

The one we have is a Panasonic XS350. Havent had any troubles yet with recording anything, have always just selected the recorded program off the SKY planner and then entered the options (right arrow) for the program and pressed the green button to Copy. It then copies onto our recorders hard drive and we burn off from there.

Admittedly there arent too many things we've burned this way, so far season 7 of 24 (which we still havent got round to watching yet :D ) , the last series of Heroes and Dexter, we'll definitely be doing it with The Pacific though :D

It'll be on Sky Movies Premiere on Sky...not sure which channel number that is for Virgin though. I quickly looked over the Virgin website and Sky Movies Premiere appears to be on Virgin under the Sky Movies Collection package, so I imagine thats the one you will need.
 
Oh is that what the Sky Movie channels are called? We might have it then. :) We've also got Sky Sports, for Test cricket, so I reckon we've got the Movies + Sports combo pack.

The Pacific starts in the States on the 14th of March. So it should start here on the same day if is this is correct:

Because when it comes to the UK - at exactly the same time as it airs in the US - it's coming exclusively to Sky Movies in glorious HD.

Fantastic news, I had heard a few months back that Sky were going to show in a couple of weeks later at the start of April. Will be great if they are showing it in mid-march. Cant wait.
 
There's a new trailer for the Iwo Jima episode on the official website.

It's looking like I will be missing this due to my lack of Sky, hopefully the dvd boxset will be released soon after it airs.
