Looking to buy an i7 920 OEM and a Gigabyte UD5 board.

Can you guys spec a good overclocking cooler below £40 ? Kept looking at the Titan Fenrir but there's talk that it'll cover some RAM slots on the board.

All advice is greatly appreciated!

would stay away from the arctic 7, it has stabalised my temps, but hasnt really lowered them.
the fenrir is supposed to me a good cooler, nearly went for that, but due to the size of my case it wouldnt fit :(

The fenrir does unfortunately cover the first ram slot on my board, but it is an excellent cooler and tbh unless you want 12gb of ram you could just use the other 3 slots for your ram

My titan covers the first ram slot but its only a problem if you want 12gb of ram with tall heatsinks as the normal sized ram will fit under the fan. It is a fantastic cooler for the money and it comes with a decent fan. I use mine on pwm so its near silent above my case fans otherwise it is noticably noisier on 100%.

Thanks for teh advice!

Budget has gone up a bit now - was thinking the Noctua U12P - would I suffer from it covering the RAM slots or is that still only applicable to "tall" RAM?

Using a Thermalright ultra extreme here, doesnt block any ram slots, and im using ocz reaper, probably the tallest memory you can get.

Ah, that is handy! I imagine that HS is a tall bugger!

I've heard about issues with tall HS and the side fan of a Thermtale Armor case where the HS touches and interferes with teh fan ? Anyone had this with an Armor case ?

Thanks again!

160.5 mm to be exact, had to check that it would go into my case ok, previous case was an akasa eclipse, slide out mobo tray, system built outside the case, luckily it fitted in fine.

I thought of an H50-1 but was hoping to see a decent installation video and I'm not sure where I can mount it in my case (already fitted 3 fans in the spaces, could take one out I guess...)

TRUE sounds good, monster piece of copper, lol :)

I have the Fenrir and 12GB of RAM on the UD5, it covers the first slot but is raised above the height of a standard stick of ram.
