Ok guys, I need to install Win XP 32 bit (don't have 64 unfortunately) as a game I play benefits from Win XP. However I have 6 gig of ram (tri channel) and 2x 4890 cards in xfire. Will it work at all?
Thanks

The system will work, but 32bit OS'es can only utilize 4GB of RAM, and this also includes vRAM on the graphics card, so you're probably only going to see about 3.25GB out of that 6GB at the most, depends on how much vRAM your graphics card has.

Im sorry to but in here but what game do you have that wont work in 64bit?

The only game that I have found that wont run in 64Bit is FireWarrior. ( Few DOS based games as well of course but thats obvious )

I only want to know.

Why not just run a dual boot system?
I will be mate :)

The game I play runs in Windows 7 however in Windows XP it runs a lot faster.

Thanks all.

Its not only the GFX card. There is a lot more that comes into play.

For example, I have a Foxconn Mobo here that stole RAM as soon as you turned it on so a 4GB setup would in fact only give me 3.1GB
I upped the BIOS and I then got 3.6GB
Once Windows was loaded up I was left with 2.5GB

I took out the Audio card and used onboard Audio and I gained 250MB

I disabled everything on board including the SATA and the Serial / Parallel and I gained a whole 400MB

So, it seems that maybe any device might affect it.

I never got this on my ASUS however.

Dotn know any other setup because I never use 32Bit O/S ... I only know of these 2 when I saw the Foxconn and how it was doing all that to the RAM and I also tried out the ASUS because they are both SLI Socket 939 Boards you see...

He said it runs faster in xp becuase its lighter than windows 7, not that it doesn't work. I had the same problem with my old pc when I had vista, went back to xp in less than a week because I could turn the graphics up higher. Also my pc showed 4GB of ram in 32bit so it depends on the motherboard I guess.

Sorry I must have missed the post where it asked about the game. It runs fine in Windows 7 no problem. However the tweaks you can do for this game in Win XP make the game a lot faster than it on Win 7.
The game is Legend of Mir 2.

Also the main reason this runs so well on Windows XP is you get the choice of changing to driver to
Advanced Configuration and Power Interface which is where the extra speed comes from it would seem.
