I read previously that when overclocking it is best to switch off various features in the BIOS to simplify the overclocking process and to prevent a variety of instability possibilities.

Having got a stable over clock with leaving this on, is it worth (performance wise) switching this setting off. I can appreciate it can keep heat down and power usage, but does the fact the cpu re-clocks from say 2GHz to 4GHz when it needs more power actually have a negative effect on performance, or is it so quick it makes no difference.

Thanks

Tom

It normally just makes finding that stable overclock a little harder. But if you've found a stable overclock, Then it probably won't make any difference. Apart from heat and electricity usage at idle that is.

It won't do any harm to just put it on and try it out.

I agree with UnworthyBean, I run my e8400/Biostar IP45 with speedstep enabled with no noticeable negative effect
