Good stuff. Give me a shout if you need a hand with Dagan when you get to him but I'm sure you probably won't.:)

so, i've just installed the 14 day trial, any advice or tips on how best to start?

i'm hoping it's a game i can get on with, always like the idea of space games/combat, dunno why i never bothered with this before if i'm honest.

thanks in advance :)

theres a 30 second aggression timer, so the method is to disengage and recall drones remove any webbers or scrams, keep spamming the dock or jump button so you can escape.

When you get your head around the high sec mechanics it is quite easy to stay alive if you have a decent ship.
60 seconds. :)

Lost my Apocalypse in a Level4 mission earlier. Have solo'd loads of missions up to now, but this one was just evil, was running it with 2 mates (one high SP in a Raven, and another about the same SP as me in a drake)
We were all taking tonnes of damage and there were loads of webbers and jammers..... :(

Only the guy in the Raven got out, just. 100mill isk down the drain :(
Luckily I managed to get the 6/8 of the expensive weapons back by sneaking in and looting my wreck quickly.

Currently flying an Armageddon since that was the only Battleship I could afford to purchase. Cap is a bit weak at the moment and the armour isn't brilliant. But it will do for now!

Hmm, you must be fairly new to this if 2 x bs and a drake couldnt survive a L4, I can solo all L4's in my Drake?

Do you know about the mission runner guides? they tell you all about what type of damage to shoot and tank and if there are webbers/scrammers etc?

Heres the link if you don't have it, could save you millions of isk lol

Yeh I'm fairly new to doing level 4s as the lead player (I've done them supporting mates for about a month now in my Harbinger)
(both me and the guy in the drake are at around 3k skill points)

I'd setup the ship for the mission and was gradually losing armor at a rate of maybe 5% every 10-15 seconds. Thinking I'll just warp out when it gets low. I didn't realise I had been jammed though - that was the problem!

We were just immensely organised to be honest! Went in a bit cocky taking our own targets :p

my tactics for lvl4s is warp in as far as poss away run away without firing to about 80-100km stop insta pop the frigs and cruisers (frigs miss 2% and insta kill 98% cruisers insta kill about 50% very vew require 3 volleys) then i close range load antimatter and pew pew th bss

Strange, my tactic on all lvl4s is to warp in, get within 40km of as much as possibly (so i can sit and tractor in the wrecks) and then aggro everything, i prefer to trigger all... erm triggers early as well, as soon as all ships are aggro'ed i launch 5x med drones... They take care of the cruisers whilst i pop the bigger stuff.

My tactic is to fly in in a tengu, tank everything, destroy everything, bring in an orca, put the tengu in the corp hanger, grab my salvaging ship, and use tractor beams on the salvage ship and the orca to get everything.

Simples :D

Doesnt sound like you were immensely organised to me mate, and if you mean 3 mill sp then you shouldnt be in a battleship you aren't ready, you dont have enough gun skills or armor skills etc, also drones of tech 2 are a must.

Id stick to the drake till you can use tech 2 hardeners and reppers and guns in the apocalypse, always take out the scramblers first with your drones!

I have well over 4 times your SP and I still won't use a bship unless its in extreme circumstances or POS busting. Far too young to be flying bships :D

Battleships are useless against frigates though. Even with all the skills in the world your main weaponry will struggle to damage a frig orbiting you at close range with and decent speed. Even my tengu can orbit my mates abadon fast enough that he can't get tracking on me, and he has 60million SP.

Drones are your best friend as a Bship pilot.

Was being sarcastic with saying we were organised! We made a complete hash of the mission. Nothing to do with the *relative* weakness of our ships.

Can't fly a Drake at all. I'm Amarr.

As to not being ready for a Battleship, what a complete load of rubbish. Whilst I will happily accept I'm nowhere near the max potentially, it still does both more damage, and tanks a lot better than any lower class ship by a fair way.
Anyway - I'll have the T2 reppers tomorrow evening :)

To suggest its a waste of time flying the ship is ridiculus, I'd say at worst I'm maybe 15% down on what it would be if I was at level 5 on every single stat.
Apart from Advanced Weapon Upgrades and the pulse/beam specialisations, I think all of my laser stats of 3 and above, with most of them level 4. My pilotting and tanking skills are all around the same sort of level too. To suggest I'd be better off missioning in a ship that is inferior in every way just because my skills might be a single level higher in a relative area is stupid. Ofcourse if I was talking PvP I'd not be using a Battleship with low skills.

The fact that I died in that mission has sod all to do with my skills and due to the fact that I was flying like an eejit (as were my mates - we just ignored the frigates :p) - I'll happily take the blame like that!
