Going on a stag do in March and i'm after recommendations for a hotel in Amsterdam. Cheaper the better but not hostel! The Dutch equivalent of Holiday Inn Express I guess...

The Golden Tulip is reasonably affordable, central and laid-back - they also have a few cheaper Tulip Inn sister hotels.

Golden Tulip is a bit pricey for us and Hotel Acro has a minimum of two nights over the period we want (only want one night). Found a Best Western 2.5km from city centre for £35 per person. Cheers for the suggestions guys.

Get a house-boat, so much better than staying in a hotel, you get a space that's yours to do what you want with for the stay. Though this will depend how many of you there are of course, most of the cheaper hotels i've stayed in in Amsterdam have been pretty dire so can't recommend any of them really.

Go to the coffee shop where its full of grapheti (sp). At door coming out of the place turn left go along there but cross over path, and keep lookin at the buildings to ur right, there's a place there that was 30euros a night and was comfy, had key cards for security and breakfast in the mornings. If i was going to the dam id go back there.

We use www.easytobook.com sort the listings by price.

We have stayed at a lot of hotels in the city, to be fair they tend to be a bit rough if you go really cheap.

Hotel83 is now are preferred choice, huge rooms, large ensuite, allow weed to be smoked with a window open, opposite the peep show and right in the heart of the RLD

Now that sounds interesting, do you have any links so I can save time on googling?

Try the amsterdam coffeeshop directory, the forums have a hotel/accommodation
section. Useful maps too

Green house effect hotel? You get a discount at their coffeeshop when you stay! Very nice apartments too.

I think this is it, as it looks very familiar the street where i stayed especially them things on right as was near em.

When u go in theres stairs going down near ur right iirc and reception on left and breakfast past the reception if u go forward hmm tho down steps might have been breakfast area.

I stayed in the Beursstraat. It was very cheap, but did the job for a stag-do perfectly. I think they almost expect you to leave the rooms looking like a bombsite.

www.priceline.co.uk - name your own price

This is the best place to get a hotel for Amsterdam, you can get a 4* hotel for €50 a night :)

In January stayed in the NH Amsterdam, and then in the Moevenpick, both were very good (Moevenpick was bit better)

You can find a lot more info here
