for some reason rivatuner wont give me any options like overclocking or anything

i have found my answer rivatuner does not support the 5 series yet. can be locked/deleted/ kept whatever :)
 
you can get riva to work, you need to take the vendor id from gpu-z and stick it in the rivatuner.cfg file. it won't read the core speed properly (says my 5870 is at 32xxxMHz), but it will clock it up and down

EDIT: it'll also show your memory clock as 2x (or 1/2 depending which way you look at it)

sorry, yes it's the device ID; put that number in the .cfg file for riva, under the heading of [GPU_1002]; scroll to the bottom of that section and add it to RV770 and it should work (that's all i did for mine)

i put my device ID in which was 68BE but didnt seem to work, all the other numbers are 4 digit also maybe im doing wrong one?
