Evening all,

Looking at a few places to go on holiday with some mates this year. Don't want to go to Ibiza as not everyone can afford the cost of clubbing over there, so this came up as being maybe a good idea!

Has anyone been to the area and can you recommend any decent hotels in a good location for clubbing?

Cheers

I lived near Sunny Beach for about a year not too long ago.
It's not that bad a resort but it is VERY expensive. Albena is not far away from Sunny Beach and is quite a lot cheaper, but there are a lot of Germans there.

For clubbing I think Sunny Beach is the only option in the area. I lived in Bulgaria when I was 16-17 though and didn't know anyone so I never went clubbing at all :/

Hmm tricky one. If you really are looking for cheap and cheerful then I guess it would be ok. I personally wouldn't go again. We stayed in the best 5* hotel on the seafront and it was 'ok'. Not what I would class as 5*! The resort is fairly tacky but it is lively and if you're going with mates you'll probably have a good time. If I remember rightly there are coaches etc. to take you clubbing.

I went to sunny beach (i think...) it was pretty cheap, lovely hotel (well after being moved from the first), didn't see many clubs though - not that i was looking

Really just after going somewhere that isn't as expensive as Ibiza (not the accomodation, but the very expensive clubs) but still has some decent nightclubs, like Tenerife - Playa de las American.

Sunny Beach is nice, we have an apartment out there and go every year. It's a nice place, but it's getting very expensive recently. The huge numbers of tourists going there means everywhere has raised their prices, probably six-fold over what they were 5 years ago.

Basically are the girls fit and easy and the clubs any good?
Me and my m8s are also thinking about sunny beach

Went a few years ago.

Sunny beach is basically 2 miles of cocktail bars, clubs, pubs and places to get hammered. There is constant happy hours and deals to be had and the girls are awesome. As long as your confident, you'll have a great time.

Just watch out for the hookers, keep well away or risk loosing all your possessions without even knowing about it (happened to a mate whilst out there).

Loving the sig fella !

I went this summer with 12 friends and we had an amazing time. Accomodation was cheap and prety standard as you would expect. It was clean modern and had all the ammenities.

The nightlife was excellent with quite a few big good clubs.

As to those saying it is expensive? WTH?! It is not hard to find 30p pints in a lot of the restaurant/bars near the clubs.

Deffinately worth checking out, just watch out for the mafia and gypsies. A lot of people also seemed to try and con us such as taxi drivers (always arrange a price beforehand and make sure it is for the full journey not per mile as some tryed. Restaurant owners also seemed fond of boosting the bills nearly every night.

Lol, this sums up our experience.

Al-though me and a mate hammered a "mafia" member. Tried threatening one of our mates if he didnt buy coke off him.

Left him on the beach crying.

But yer, watch out for them too.

Pints of water?

Sunny Beach is VERY expensive compared to the other places in the area. Albena is a lot cheaper but has maybe 1 club that's not that big.

Also the Pound to the lev. is not good anymore. When I lived there I got 3 levs (?) for a pound, when I went last July I only got 2.
People trying to scam you is a Sunny Beach thing, too, I think. Never happened to me anywhere else in restaurants and such.

Well this was this June and could easily get pints of BEER (tasted good enough to us!) dirt cheap.

I think it was around 1lev a lot of the time. If you go to the bars its a lot more expensive, but the restaurants after people have finished eating are great for cheap booze and good for sitting around a large table playing games.

Edit also in some of the clubs you can pay an 10lev for all you can drink at the bar for an hour before everyone else gets there. We did this 3 times and within that hour everyone managed to get paraletic so it is definitely worth doing.

Be wary that sunny beach is 90% mafia owned

Indeed!

All the clubs / pubs charge you to use the toilet. Get caught peeing in a bush and well you get some big arse bouncer on you demanding money or you get cuffs on you as I found out :p

It's not a bad place, beach is fairly nice, night life is okay, but seems to be more for the Swedish/Danish/Dutch euro pop scene.

But yeah be warned, all the workers or anyone trying to rip you off will be working for the mafia.
