Is it just me or is this the single biggest pile of purple Y fronted kackery this side of the square wheel?

It's driving me nuts with it's constant disconnections.

Pah.

Just so you know dreigns I think your sig breaks the size rules (400px × 75px 20kb limit)
Best change it before a mod sees

It's not as bad as it once was but still has plenty of room for improvement, for example they really need to fix the way their 'friends' work. Of course, anything that isn't Steam in my books is flawed when it comes to things like this :D

Also, Squark is right about your sig dreigns, sig should be no more than 400 pixels wide, 75 pixels high and less than 20Kb.

It's not just you with that opinion. I've not had any technical problems with it, just utter resent it's pointless existence and the 45 wasted minutes of my life registering a massive chain of accounts just so I could save games in GTAIV.

Now you see, I don't really care about the 'delivery system' or microsofts attempts at world domination but it drives me nuts when this shizzle doesn't work as it should.

All evening long I get logged in, I get to a random point and time in a race in Dirt2 and I get disconnected.

Then, without changing anything at my end, it suddenly decides just to stop doing it.

Sigh.....These people are going to be first against the wall come the revolution.

Its more stable than it used to be, but like someone else said it just a complete pointless waste of time - just something else that PC gaming doesnt need.

I've never had a problem with it and I think it's a nice little thing to have. For example, I used to have a 360 but no longer have one. I can carry on using my Gamertag for free with GFWL, I can chat to old 360 friends and still gain achievements on my profile. Couple this with Steam and it's a nice system. Fallout 3 on Steam and GFWL tracking all the achievements and friends etc gives me the best of both worlds. This thread should have complained about Rockstar Social Club really because that IS a dollop of totally pointless ****.

Good:

Easy matchmaking.
Achievements etc.

Bad:

CRAP updating, I can never update in game, it can't get through my firewall . Why can't it if gamespy/steam/etcetc can.
No quick chat function.

Yeah its just you it works pk for most. You need Open NAT & UPnp enabled I cba to tell you exactly how but look on the GFWL official forums or search my post history here I've posted the info many times in the recent past.

Your getting the disconnects because of a firewall or ports forwarding issue once you isolate & resolve that it will be 100% stable.

I personally don't like G.F.W.L. because it requires Internet Explorer, which I always strip out of installations. I don't see it worth it enough to include it.

It's good that some games (G.T.A. IV for example) have workarounds so you can remove it altogether. Whether that would be violating the terms of use is another thing.

It's pointless one more ****y thing i have to signin into just to use a damn game.

fortunately it's mostly only on crap games.

Is it not just another form of advertising for Microsoft?

Do the game developers get paid for including G.F.W.L?

sadly it looked like it was going to be good at first like xfire with achievements but then they decided that the pc dev team were the wrong people to make it and gave it to the 360 devs who royally ****ed it up.

Pointless software, and designed and developed by people who've been told to do it, don't care about it, and know there's already better on the market.

Just another example of Microsoft trying to play catch up.

Can't argue with that comment.. I've had countless problems with my Fallout 3 DLCs.. Steam all the way
