I'm looking to get a Google Nexus. Has any UK release date/pricing been released. I don't want to go spending +£60 on the DHL import tax if the phone's coming out in the UK within the next few weeks.

Craig.

It looks like Vodafone will be getting it Spring 2010:

Was gonna import it myself but after tax/import duty it comes in at around £500 which is silly money.

its not dhl's import tax. its our countries tax. when it comes out here it will have that tax added on already so be a similar price

£420 all tax included is a great price for such a phone imo

Where did you get the figure £500 from? The phone cost me about £360 or so, then with the import tax (£60) it is £420.

Well yeah, about £500. More than I'm willing to pay for what Android should have been in the first place. When it drops to £300 or so I'll probably pick one up.

A common store with a 4 letter name (competitor) are selling it for £599.

You're better off importing it at the moment.

Too expensive!!

If you're with T-Mobile i believe they have going to be stocking it in the next few weeks. Otherwise IMPORT!

I have a company phone, so need an unlocked phone to use the sim i preferably as I also want to use it for my own sim if I eve get a new work phone or something.

True, but I was just wondering what the release date is for UK, it could be cheaper than that.

Does GPRS/navigation etc. work in UK on the imported model? I read somewhere it doesn't

I'm in the USA at the minute, can I just buy one of these here and bring it home (with the box in my main luggage)? Or would that be considered illegal and I have to pay import tax?

I've tried Googling, but I can't find exactly that question answered...

Thanks!

Just buy it, unbox it, and carry it through.

Last time I went to the states I came back with a new Ipod, Digital camera, a ton of new clothes and shoes, a load of other assorted crap, all of it still in retail packaging and I just walked through the nothing to declare lane, which wasnt even manned.

I've imported one. No hassle at all, arrived in 2 working days. Google charged £353 to my card, and I'm expecting the ~£60 VAT bill shortly

bringing the grand total to £413

I was a t-mobile store yesterday picking up a sim only plan for my nexus. The woman serving me immediately recognised what my phone was with no prompting, then said she wished they'd be getting them in. Implying they weren't expecting to stock them at all, let alone soon. Were you thinking of vodafone? They HAVE confirmed they'll be stocking it (They said in "a few short weeks" last month). T mobile are rumoured to be stocking this phones cousin the bravo tho. But that'll be a while off - they're not even stocking the milestone yet :o

Right now its the best android phone out by some way - its the only phone to get a full 2.1 support (milestones and heros are confirmed to be getting 2.1 but without the live wallpapers amongst other minor differences). Flash for android looks to also require 2.1 and is due for a demo at MWC.

To summarize if you need it unlocked and now import it. If you can wait a week for MWC do that, just incase anything interesting is released there, and if you want it on a contract you out of luck for now, but vodafone should come to your rescue eventually

technically your meant to declare it and then pay the taxes

in reality if you unbox it then they will never find out even if they search you and see it(which is unlikely)

bring me one too !
