Car should/will be a write off.

Anyone know how long turn around usually is by directline take to turn stuff around?

Ooooh. Nasty. Glad you're OK. I had a similar experience about 12 months ago when I ran over the hub that fell off a transit. Some other poor bugger hit the wheels.

Also with Direct Line. I had a loan car from Drive Assist within 24 hours, mine was fixed and back in 2 weeks due to parts delays. I was less amused with the time to close the claim down - around 9 months due to wrangling about the recovery charges.

Lets just be thankful it didn't bounce up at all, could have been a whole different kettle of fish.

Can't say anything about direct line specifically. but only generally from my experience with a non-fault claim where my vehicle was written off.

It took 3-4 weeks before i recieved the cheque for the payout of my vehicle. I'm still waiting for the cheque for my uninsured losses etc. (accident was in april 2009).

Unsure if this is 'the norm' - my insurer was a bit crap at the time, settled for quantity rather than quality when i chose my insurer.

Have you gone through your insurer or an accident management company? - i'd have gone for the management company in your circumstances - that way i wouldn't be without a car.

Direct Line referred me to Drive Assist (which I thought was a little unusual at the time) as it was a third party that caused my incident.

Probably a good thing! - have you been given/offered a hire car? I was given a hire bike within a day of my accident so that I wasn't off the road - you are usually allowed to keep the hire vehicle until you RECIEVE a payout cheque for your vehicle, some might let you keep it until the cheque clears?

After having a black ice incident on the bike I'm still waiting some five weeks later, just had an initial offer this morning. Not very impressed with Carole Nash who seem to have suddenly turned into a bunch of amateurs now I need to make a claim :(

Picked up my hire car last night - had to pay extra to get something use full! i'll be holding all recepts and claiming it back. they wanted to give me a 1l KA! got a 1.4 Corsa in the end - not great but it'll do for now.

Got a phone call from the damage assesors they have said its a write off. waiting fro direct lines assesor to go and see it and confirm written off.

As the lorry was from portugal, everything is taking the time. they can't just pick up insurance details like they can for a UK one - bit of a joke really. so they are having to write to the portugal DVLA for policy numbers ect.

Gunna get checked over by the doctors this week, got so cuts down my arm, necks still, and i've badly bruised my elbow, gunna get that all in writing to add to the claim.

Already found the car i want soo just hoping its not long for money to come through, but i can see them offering me not enough, and i'll tell them where to go.

Mk1 Ka came in 1.3L or 1.6L and the new one is 1.2L or 1.3L, going to guess the sales assistant hadn't got a clue about their cars, I'd check it is actually a 1.4 Corsa :p

Its a 1.4 i made sure.

and well KA wise, full stop i didn't want one :P

Now the gf isn't watching over my shoulder, I wouldn't either as my own car - especially as they aren't supposed to be very good at motorway/dual carriageways.

Which version of Corsa have you gotten?
