Tachymeters on watches

as far as i can work out, they're almost always just used as decoration on what would otherwise be a rather dull bezel.

still, if ever you needed to work out the speed of something at least you'd be able to.

Some say it's useful for working your speed over a given distance but it doesn’t stop you from getting speeding tickets. The Breitling slide rule bezel is far more useful. ;)

My watch has got a slide rule which you can use to work out multiplication, division and square roots and also convert miles to knots and kilometres. More useful then the tachymeter imo.

The only use for it I've found is to calibrate the speedometer on my car. Yay fun. You have to be a passenger to do it, too. I suppose you could figure out how fast cars or horses are going around a track, as long as you know the exact distance of the track.

My watch is great, I can make phonecalls, surf the internet, its got a timer, stopwatch, text messages, touch screen . . . . . . . :o

Can we please stop with the whole "I have the best watch ever, a phone". It's childish and pointless. If you're not here to discuss watches, go elsewhere.
