I've been waiting for such a device for years. However apple generally sucks. but they have the IPad almost spot on imo. If it just had usb, memory card slot and flash.

So what rivals are due out soon. the only ones I know about our.

x2 computers - Itable
10.2" or 12"
Atom 1.6GHz
2GB RAM,
250GB
three USB ports
1.3MP webcam
WiFi
3G by
optional HDMI
1.2kilo
nearly three times as thick as Ipad
Windows 7 tablet

Size, weight and the fact it has windows7 destroys this as a useful device. It is basically the same old tablet which has been churned out for years and it just isn't useful to most people.

MSI Android
release - 2nd half 2010
Price - expected to be around £300 mark
10" display
Android 2.1 OS

Sounds great, right price, right size.

Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid
Comes in 2 parts
Dual OS - Windows 7 when needing to do some work, and a custom build OS for browsing gadgets when not.
C2D for the main computer & Snapdragon for the slate
1.7kilo for computer 750g for slate
11.6" 16:9 screen
10hours battery life
$499
Sounds interesting but main computer is probably worthless for my needs.

So what else is on the horizon. Nothing announced for a chromium based tablet yet. Although a lot of speculation.

So thats NO removable media whatsoever? That seems incredibly pointless!

Usual Apple tbh! Hype it up annd then when the next version is out people go mental for something ii should have had in the first place.

Yea thats the only downside I can see to the nokia, but it has a few plus points such as being able to use its usb ports as host allowing to to connect many usb devices etc. I also believe it can be used to run a slimmed down version of ubuntu

I would look at this little beauty

Can't say either do it for me. Keyboards are useless for such a device and you need a big screen to make web browsing, video and ebooks worthwhile.

Does it have to be portable? Because you can get some amazing touch panel monitors for PCs!!

I saw a couple in a shop the other day buying 2 touchscreens worth £1K each (like 42" or something) asking the shop owner how it connects to a computer:

Is it USB? Or that funny shaped USB? Or does it use that blue connector at the back?

Noobs with cash, eh?
