Anyone else on here sad like me (:)) and collect Die Cast model cars? When I was a kid I collected lots of random ones (old fasioned cars mainly) because they were 'cars'. But as Ive grown up Ive started to pick out the key cars I like. Just had my 1:18 Brawn GP delivered, and placed my preorder for a 1:18 Aston Marting Lola LMP1 car. They will join my DBR9, Bentley Speed 8 and Lotus Elise GT1, aswell as my dads collection of Rally models and my sisters F1 models (all 1:18) on display in the lounge :).

So, anyone else collect? Got anything rare/special?

My friend has more 1:32 tractors in his bedroom then you will ever see in your entire life

He reckons there is about $3k worth of them

I don't collect the expensive stuff but I've got an Exoto 1/18 Sauber Mercedes plus a shelf full of mostly matchbox sized cheap stuff Mk1 MR2 and Lotus related. Oh and there's a massive shelf of minis in the bedroom but they're mostly Vix's.

Still got about 10 of the 1/18 BBuragos in the loft at my mums, she's threatening to clear it out this summer and I'm not sure what to do with them.

I've got about 20 1:18 Bburago models and a few Maisto ones from when i was younger.
I used to play with them :o

Now they're just sitting in the attic collecting dust.
I used to think that they'd be worth loads like my dad's Dinky toys, but what with mass manufacturing I highly doubt it :p

i had a 2002 ferrari f1 car that cost around 100 quid which was around 12 inches long? 1:18 scale?

smashed it during an argument with the wife lol.

Just the odd one or two...

All the race McLarens since 1988 (except the Alliot and Magnussen cars which were never produced), every Le Mans winner since 1949, all the Le Mans Audi R8s.

The CMC stuff in the second cabinet from the right is probably the highlight though, the Auto Union C Types are simply stunning.

Yeah, got all three of those plus the bare chassis - very nice.

Ive got about 50 odd small die cast cars... i should really check the value of them as ive stored them for 20 yrs now..

ohh how time flies

I intend to, at some point, try and get die-casts of stuff I've owned.

So far I've got a couple of little Dolomite Sprints, but I have a 1/18th scale Triumph Stag, and a 1/18th C4 Corvette as well.

I've got a Stingray, Bugatti EB110, DB6, Humvee (Military) and an original Viper too, so logically I'll have to own those at some point :p

I've got about 60 or so 1/18th and about 15-20 1/43rds.

That McLaren collection is superb. I agree about the CMCs too, I've got about 6 or 7 of them myself :)

1/18 Minichamps Senna Lotus Honda 99T, 1988 Senna McLaren, 1991 Senna Williams, 2008 Hamilton McLaren, 2009 Jenson Brawn.

Thats my F1 collection.
Then I have around 30-35 1/18 cars, from my current road cars (MK5 Golf GTI + Smart Roadster) to ex cars (VX220, S2000 etc) to race cars and road specials.

Not a cheap hobby!!

Only got that one, had it for probably 15 years! Was only about a tenner.

You would be shocked at how much that would go for on ebay these days (we're talking potentially £100+ if its boxed and in good condition). UT Models don't seem to be around anymore and their Ford models are highly sought after by collectors, especially the Escort Cosworth or WRC models!
