ok I have a maximus III formula mobo and its playing silly sods on cold boot.

every morning when I boot it up ill get a random bsod anything from PFN LIST CORRUPT to MEMORY MANAGEMENT. With the memory management one being most common.

I have run memtest 86+ 4.0 on both RAM sticks at the same time and seperately for 7 passes each time and all comes up clean

once it has Blue screened i boot to safe mode and restart and its fine for the rest of the day. Its only on the first cold start its happening

any ideas how to fix it?

Sounds really odd mate, if you want, send me a message through Trust with your system specs and details of the problems? I'll see if I can get someone from RD to look at it.

how do you see if it's pfn list corrupt or memory management. i get the exact same thing but can't find out whats causing it.
and i'm also on a asus board Rampage gene 2 skt 1366
EDIT also i thought it was the gfx card drivers but i can only try one thing a day as it only happens on a cold boot

the blue screen that comes up says it at the bottom below the stop0x000000 whatever code in capital letters

thinks theres an option either in the bios or windows (cant remember which) to pause on blue screen errors

when it does it it just keeps looping the bluescreen reload windows crash BSOD reload windows etc. If you hold the power button to power off, then turn back on it fires up fine, its just that initial cold boot. So atm when Im not using the pc I just put it into sleep mode and its fine

i was getting something similar

im using an asus rampage II Gene.

My sound would go funny after a cold boot i would then get loads of distortion and static out of my speakers and a BSOD then reboot. It would then be fine after that.

Also if i managed to shut it down when the noise started before it Blue screened it would be fine after reboot.

To fix it i removed my x-fi extreme gamer soundcard and went to using the onboard sound :P didnt happen after that.

thats exactly what i get but i'm using onboard sound. soo maybe reinstalling sound drivers might help.

I think the issues CraigN and Petriodet mention are something different to the cold boot issue. There is a known issue with ATI VGA's crashing randomly with that static sound.

The only fix I managed to find involved disabling catalyst AI, enabling VPU Recovery in the latest Catalyst and fixing the screens refresh rate within Catalyst to remain the same in game.

mine only crashes on a cold boot and i've tryed all sorts of settings people have suggest in the catalyst control center to no avail,so i'm gonna change the gfx card and see what happens tonight

If you've got an Nvidia card to hand, humour me and try it out? :)

Macca - I've sent you an email. :)

strange mine worked with removing the Xfie PCIe card, im jsut using the Asus Xfi onboard now instead.
