Do i wait until the new nivida cards come out and buy a cheap GTX260.... or do i just buy a 5850 and keep it for a year b4 up dating!

Does any1 know when the new cards will be out?

I've got a 5750 right now, I'm probably going to hang on for Fermi which in in 2-3 months if I'm not mistaken. I was thinking about getting a 5850 and getting a second later on but decided may as well wait and see what comes soon.

I'm in the same predicament, considering ordering a 5850 (or a 5870 for that matter), but just cannot decide. People are telling me to wait until the 'next generation' of cards arrive

Decisions, Decisions......

I know it is so annoying! i might just completly wait to upgrade my system until the new gfx are out, i mean a new £1000+ system isn't great unless its got a beasty gfx card in it!

agreed, although ze wife and 2 kids can probably suck as much jiuce outta my pocket as will a new vid card.

this has really caught my eye though and i've got itchy fingers to get one, considering i'm jumping from an old 8800 GTX 768Mb version will be like going from ASDA sparkling wine to real champagne for me :)

I am the exact same, got that card to. Altho i'd rather get this one for the free dirt 2 and its cheaper

My guess is that the 5850 will hold it's value quite well because the GTX470/480's will be released at a much higher price point. The 5850 is a safe bet, and you can always add a second for SLI (motherboard permitting) when the prices eventually come down.

That is true! Hmmm sod its only money....

Just get the 260 and wait and see what Fermi is like, as supposedly due March, not much point getting a 5 series now, as they are getting EOL'd from June/July, as AMDs replacing the entire range.
