Iphone 4G Pictures leak?

2g too 3g was a much bigger update too 3g too 3gs.

The 3gs was not worth the upgrade. You know they are just going to tweak the 4g to be a little faster like the 3gs was. And why? Well why not they dont need to change anything else because they sell.

Hell they can even take a iPod touch, make the screen bigger and call it an iPad and everyone wants one :o

no it wasn't. from 2G to 3G, all apple did was put in a smaller battery, plastic instead of aluminium case and the 3G connectivity it should have had from the beginning.

from 3G to 3GS they completely changed the CPU and logic circuits to newer, slightly faster ones, while also making the circuit board smaller to accommodate a bigger battery.

frankly, from 2G to 3G to 3GS there's hardly any evolution at all. quite why people pay through the nose for these things defeats me.

My contract is up in april, and the iphone is next on my list, now do i go ahead and get the 3GS or wait for this 4G? What more could be on the 4g that isnt already on the 3gs? and i dont even bother with video calling if its a front camera its got?

If you really must tie yourself down to a closed system at an extortionate price then go right ahead and get the 3GS, the "4G" is just a rumour, it will be a while before it actually appears.
Just remember to take your charger with you everywhere you go, you'll need it if you actually decide to *use* it. ;)

bloodyl i know how that feel on the pre tbh, but then i jsut take a replacement battery :p :D

the 3GS had a massive update to the CPU and GPU of the system. going from a 400MHz ARM11 CPu to a 600MHx cortex8 CPU is a BIG update. the cotex A8 i svery very powrful (for a smartphone) and while the ARM11 was about 5 years ago, that doesnt hold true nowaays. the upgrade wasnt big for looks or something the public can physically see and know, but archetcuarly its massive, and mostliekly the jump to cortexa9 for the next phone will be done, which is another big update, and it might possibly be a dual core CPU.

Will they not use some in-house processor like they are doing for the iPad?

hopefully, as that is the ARM cortex A9 proccessor (dualcore version) its the same one in the tegra 2, thought he GPU is also from ARM (mali 50) where as tegras is an nvidia one. and currently the 3GS has a powerVR one. though both can use openGL ES 2.0 SDK for 3d gaming so there is no problem in compatibility of gaming. this is the same SDk that is used by webGL, the n900 and the palm pre aswell, and should be in winmo 7 aswell.

Dumb claim is dumb and usually used by fanboys of other phones.

Pathetic, really.

hows it dumb. batterys havent improved at all in the last year. if this is dual core with a bigger res or better quality screen then people are going to be very very lucky to get a days use out of it.

depends, if its a super AMOLED, then battery life will improve, and remember the new A9s have 45nm proccesses unlike the 65nm of the A8.

Chill winston. :)

One of the lads at work is constantly complaining that he has to take his apple charger everywhere he goes, which considering that sometimes he ends up working on sites that don't even have a stable electricity supply then I can fully understand how he feels.

FWIW, I too have a charger handy in work for my symbian phone.

LOL awww an apple fanboi has his feelings hurt....its no big secret that the iphones from inception ie the 2G down to the 3GS have terrible battery life...theres no denying that simple fact...i mean yeh turn off 3G and push notifications and you will get a better battery life but whats the point of doing that when the phone is meant to be 3G and have push email??...

Dumb arguement made by an iphone fanboi:p...pathetic really.

The iPhone 3G name has ties to the faster data speed it adopted (3G obviously), it would seem somewhat odd to have the new phone be called 4G unless it uses a higher data speed.

Maybe. But this has been the norm for all ipod products and so it wouldn't surprise me.

How do you mean, the norm?

There was the iphone first. It wasn't called the iphone 2G, people came up with that name later. Then we had the 3G, which made sense it now used 3G networks. Then there's the 3GS, which is a 3G Speed, because it uses faster hardware.

We don't have any proper 4G phone networks yet, just 3.5G. 3.5G isn't a good name for a phone, and doesn't mean anything to most people, so it's very unlikely the phone will be called anything along those lines.

They'll come up with a new name, probably determined by whatever the new big feature is - video calling or something. Iphone VC. God knows.
