Hi all, I have the following PC spec (shown below) and i have just started to get into playing Flight Sim X.

The graphics run ok, but only with the settings turned right down. I would like to be able to run full graphic options (within the game) seemlessly! How do i know what graphics cards fit my PC?

I have used System Info for Windows and that says i should be able to run 4gb of ram in 4 slots, but i can only find 2 slots. How can i confirm how much RAM i can have?

Also, at present i have 2.4ghz is there an easy way of getting more?

I dont know much about PC's and i only know what mine has inside by using System Info for Windows, but would like any advice anyone can give.

Thanks in advance, Chris

Hello and welcome to the forums :)

Just a quick note to remove the competitor link before a mod sees :)

Virtually all gpu's will fit in terms of motherboard connections but you need to look at the size of the graphics card as it may be your case that may be small and psu connections.

Something Like this GPU will give a good performance boost.

Download cpu-z to check your RAM size.

£900 :eek ....

Anyway, I would suggest a 4870 / 5770 or similar which would kinda complement the other components well - depending on whether or not either of those will fit in your case of course.

Then if you download CPUz and tell us which mobo you have, we can tell you how to overclock that CPU easily..... should reach 3 - 3.2 without many cooling issues.

Hi, thank you for the welcome and yes the URL is gone ;-)! My psu is only rated to 280w (i think) so will be changing that. When looking at graphics cards is there anything in particular i should be looking for?

If i was you I would sell your system as is then add it to the money you was going to spend upgrading it then come back here and ask to spec you a rig for £?

If you really want to keep it i would upgrade the videocard to something like a 5770, Memory to 4GB and get yourself a copy of Windows 7

I dont think i would get my money back for this system now....?

That has an identical spec to my old machine. Is that a Philips Mt6000 from Pc world or something? If so, a HD5770 would do nicely, i managed to squeeze a 9600gt into mine, didnt even have to get a new PSU. PSU did run quite hot though.

This one? "XFX ATI Radeon 5770 HD 850Mhz 1GB PCI-Express 2.0 HDMI"

If that is the exact same PC, then the PSU does come with a single 6-pin PCI-e connector so it should work fine. Think the PSU is rated at 300W too, so you should be fine. In terms of space, the 5770 is quite small, so yeah, go for it!
EDIT: I'd go for the XFX tbh.

What is your upgrade budget?

A little as possible. Could possibly go to £150-£200 at the limit, if the returns going to be immense. I like the idea of overclocking but dont know anything about it, and i only play one game at present and would like that to run better
