amiga days blast from the past

The cd1200

Speaking of which, any one ever have one of these

Yes, the Commodore CDTV

Never saw one in action... come to think of it, Commodore were quite the ingenious ones back then (if they hadn't gone bust)

One of my other favourites was a tennis game called Smash but I can't find any videos. :(

Super Tennis Champs was good too.

The guy who wrote the music for these demos - Echo as he was known back then used to live a few streets down the road from me in Grantham many years ago..

We were good friends till he turned to drugs and went a little off the rails. He moved down south many years ago, heard he'd cleaned himself up and was doing quite well.

http://www.spoonwizard.com/ you'll see some if his past and newer works. Really keep meaning to get in touch, must be like - ooh 14 years since I last spoke to him.

I know spoony quite well ;p Speak to him every few days. I was not really involved in the demo scene back in the amiga days but do know peeps from around the world who were demo makers and later went into full time game production. I was unfortunately involved more with the dark side of the scene (SR,FLT,HLM,PDX)

I still have my miggy 1200, not that I've played with it for years...

My favourites:

Missile Command (simple I know, but effective)
Populous
James Pond 2: Robocod
Lemmings

Hrmm, played all sorts of odd things... those are the ones that stuck, though :)

Used to spend hours fiddling in Deluxpaint too.

Of course, the ultimate of ultimate games to lay your hands as a kid on was Leisure Suit Larry :D

Epic game, nukes a'hoy!

Ultimate Super Skidmarks, LOL I cant think of another game before or since where you can race toilets round a track

Not sure if I played Ultimate but on Super Skidmarks I could add the caravans to toe on the cars because I had the 512K mem upgrade on the Amiga 500  (of course, A1200 could do that and more  :D)

Can anyone remember a game were it was a side scrolling adventure game where you played as some sort of creature and they lived in treehouses and you could go into the them, I seem to have vague memories of this game, its quiet green and you went up ladders to these huts, i think there was conversations on the game.

Small world… One day I was talking to him as he used to work in the local computer centre at one time, next I knew, owner of the store told me he’d gone… Heard he’d moved down south, and then I heard he’d got another job and was working in his spare time on a music act… Used to pop round his house share whilst he was in Grantham and he’d hook me up with the latest demos, games and all sorts on my Amiga… Those were the days…

But I’ll he honest doubt he’ll even remember me, however he was pretty talented with an Amiga and a tracker app..!! Found his website whilst searching around for UAE ADF files etc…..

Anyhow…. This thread certainly has brought some memories back.. I loved my trusty old A1200.

Lotus Turbo Challenge 2
Knights of the sky
Populous
Theme Park
Dune 2
Microprose Grand Prix
Alien Breed
Chaos Engine
Pinball Dreams
Monkey Island
The Settlers

The machine had an endless list of top quality games…… I kinda forgot about the A1200 as soon as Playstation came along and I got a job support computers, so moved over to Windows 95.

Workbench was such an excellent O/S. The amiga was so far ahead at the time, as I said such a shame Commodore went bust, and Amiga never recovered from it.

Who remembers Escom, and how they tried to flog A1200 for £150 more then what they cost before commodore went under?

Then gateway got the Amiga and never really did anything with it…

Great thread and happy memories.

My A1200 with 8MB Fast RAM and 60 MB Hard drive is still at my parents house in the upstairs cupboard.

Here's the 'business' side of the Amiga.
